Todd Young (R-IN) told Punchbowl News.<\/p>\n<p>If Congress seeks to import workers, \u201cwe need to do it smartly, in order to once again ensure that those new workers aren\u2019t competing with our existing workers for jobs, competing for wages and salaries,\u201d Young <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=TdSLBGkXaSs\">told<\/a> Punchbowl\u2019s Anna Palmer in a&nbsp;January 25 interview. \u201cThis is how we\u2019ll build majority support for immigration reform,\u201d said Young, who is up for election this year.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Young\u2019s comments in the little-noticed interview highlight the political problem created by the House Democrats\u2019 surprise addition of expansive migration measures to a bill intended to help U.S. companies compete with China\u2019s state-backed industries.<\/p>\n<p>Young played a critical role in passing the Senate\u2019s version of the anti-China bill. The Senate&nbsp;bill spends more than $110 billion to boost research in a much-touted effort to help U.S. businesses compete with China\u2019s government-backed economy. His bill passed the Senate\u2019s 60-vote threshold with just a handful of votes to spare.<\/p>\n<p>The House passed a very different version on February 4. The House bill would spend $250 billion on a wide variety of Democrat causes \u2014 such as funding for the United Nations \u2014 and it includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/02\/03\/kevin-mccarthy-democrats-visa-giveaway-china-bill-helps-china-hurts-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">several migration provisions<\/a> that would reduce the jobs and wages available to people in Young\u2019s home state.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The bill\u2019s migration sections would allow U.S. investors and companies to hire an endless stream of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/02\/03\/kevin-mccarthy-democrats-visa-giveaway-china-bill-helps-china-hurts-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">foreign replacements<\/a> for mainstream Indiana graduates. The bill also provides the coastal investors with more foreign workers to fill the worksites that investors prefer to build near their coastal homes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/08\/13\/zuckerbergs-data-says-amnesty-gives-economic-windfall-coastal-democratic-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in their coastal states<\/a> \u2014 and so very far away from the many young people in Young\u2019s Indiana or the GOP\u2019s Midwest.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/02\/03\/kevin-mccarthy-democrats-visa-giveaway-china-bill-helps-china-hurts-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Democrats\u2019 green card giveaway<\/a> was <a href=\"https:\/\/republicanleader.house.gov\/live\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">repeatedly blasted<\/a> by GOP leaders, including Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), and House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy, who said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>They call it the American Competes Act. But make no mistake. It\u2019s a bill that concedes to China. The American Concedes Act is Democrats\u2019 desperate answer to their string of self-created crises. While&nbsp;it contains some provisions supported by Republicans. Speaker Pelosi is holding these good ideas, hostage by using this 3,000-page bill as a vehicle for the party\u2019s far-left agenda.&nbsp; Almost every page of the Democrats\u2019 Concede Act has a provision that helps China but hurts America.<\/p>\n<p>Now here are just a few excerpts. On page 1,689, it provides a new unlimited green card program for the Chinese Communist Party to exploit.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The green card giveaway was also slammed by Young\u2019s fellow Hoosier, Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN). A January 31 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/31\/rep-jim-banks-lists-11-ways-democrats-anti-china-bill-is-a-surrender-to-the-xi-regime\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> from Banks\u2019 Republican Study Committee said the Democrats\u2019 bill:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\">Creates a new visa cap carveout program that&nbsp;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">would be even less secure than <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">existing visa program<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">s<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\">that are already riddled with fraud. Shockingly,&nbsp;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">an unlimited number of members of the Chinese Communist Party are eligible to take advantage of the&nbsp;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">new visa program to carry out their malign activity here in the States (<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">page 1689<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) is also speaking against the Democrats\u2019 career-giveaway plans. \u201cThe partisan bill from the House has also added provisions related to immigration, from creating new types of visas to removing green card caps,\u201d Cornyn said on February 4.&nbsp;\u201cThe [alternative] Senate bill needs to be the template for what is ultimately done by the conference committee and what is ultimately passed by the United States Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 18 Republicans&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/legislative\/LIS\/roll_call_lists\/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=117&amp;session=1&amp;vote=00214\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">who voted for the Senate\u2019s anti-China bill<\/a>&nbsp;included Sens. Young, Cornyn, Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Susan Collins (R-ME), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Steve Daines (R-MT), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Jim Risch (R-ID), Mitt Romney (R-UT), Mike Rounds (R-SD), Ben Sasse (R-NE), Thom Tillis (R-NC), and Roger Wicker (R-MS).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Many Republicans voted against the measure because it does not protect&nbsp;against aggressive Chinese spying and technology theft, say Senate critics, including Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL).<\/p>\n<p>After the House passed their version of the bill with the visa giveaway, Young released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.young.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/young-statement-on-house-passage-of-america-competes-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>&nbsp;on February 4, saying:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>As we head to a conference process, my hope is that the final legislation will reflect the Senate bill and give House Republicans a much better option to support. The Senate-passed bill focuses on directly confronting China and getting legislation like USICA across the finish line&nbsp;will ensure the United States leads the world into the future.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/02\/01\/democrats-china-bill-to-lobotomize-u-s-college-graduates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">green card language<\/a>&nbsp;was touted by Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), whose district includes part of Silicon Valley. Investors in her region use many imported visa workers to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/08\/13\/zuckerbergs-data-says-amnesty-gives-economic-windfall-coastal-democratic-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">minimize geographically-inconvenient investments<\/a> in other states, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2020\/05\/22\/fed-data-visa-worker-program-sneaks-wealth-jobs-blue-states-tech-industry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">such as Indiana<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Advocates, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/02\/03\/kevin-mccarthy-democrats-visa-giveaway-china-bill-helps-china-hurts-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">including Lofgren<\/a>, say the House bill allows the \u201cbest and brightest\u201d foreign graduates to get green cards, jobs, and then citizenship if they work to get science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) doctorates in American or foreign universities.<\/p>\n<p>But&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/02\/01\/democrats-china-bill-to-lobotomize-u-s-college-graduates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the fine print<\/a>&nbsp;of the bill shows it would give green cards to a wide variety of ordinary foreign graduates, including chemists, doctors, engineers, statisticians, accountants, tax experts, software developers, and computer security experts.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/02\/01\/democrats-china-bill-to-lobotomize-u-s-college-graduates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bill\u2019s language sets no limits<\/a>&nbsp;on the number of foreign migrants who can get green cards and then U.S. jobs and careers, nor does it set any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/06\/26\/ex-google-chief-uses-top-tier-immigration-claim-to-sideline-u-s-college-graduates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">minimum standards<\/a> for the skills of those migrants.<\/p>\n<p>Roughly 1.5 million non-immigrant, mid-skill, foreign contract workers \u2014 such as H-1B workers \u2014 have been imported and hired by CEOs to fill white-collar careers that would otherwise be held by U.S. graduates. The mass inflow of cheap and compliant foreign workers distorts the nation\u2019s professional sector by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/23\/lawsuit-spotlights-anti-american-corruption-in-h-1b-outsourcing-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">empowering CEOs<\/a>, suppressing&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/codesubmit.io\/blog\/the-evolution-of-developer-salaries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">U.S. salaries,<\/a>&nbsp;undermining professionalism, slowing innovation, and diverting job-creating investment towards the coasts, such as Silicon Valley and New York.<\/p>\n<p>The China bill is strongly backed by business groups, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/a_moriarty\/status\/1489306067259445248?s=20&amp;t=IffqNNmxaOPMEmmzKzQGYg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mark Zuckerberg\u2019s FWD.us<\/a> advocacy&nbsp;group for West Coast investors. \u201cAccording to FWD.us estimates,&nbsp;100,000 international student graduates&nbsp;of U.S. colleges and universities each year would like to stay and work permanently in the U.S.,\u201d the group said in a&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fwd.us\/news\/us-international-students\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">new report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That 100,000 number is roughly one-eighth of all Americans who graduate each year from four-year colleges with degrees in healthcare, business, science, biology, software, math, or engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Zuckerberg\u2019s investor allies at FWD.us are&nbsp;not just looking for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tag\/fwd-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">extra workers<\/a>&nbsp;\u2014 they want more migrants because they also serve as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/01\/20\/companies-say-public-charge-reform-will-cut-their-revenues-from-poor-migrants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">consumers<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2019\/05\/15\/new-york-times-touts-investors-campaign-for-more-immigration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">renters<\/a>.&nbsp;The breadth of investors who&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20181024004654\/https:\/\/www.fwd.us\/founders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">founded and funded<\/a>&nbsp;FWD.us was&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fwd.us\/founders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">hidden from casual visitors<\/a>&nbsp;to the group\u2019s website sometime in the last few months. But&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/G5rNg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">copies exist<\/a>&nbsp;at the&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20181024004654\/https:\/\/www.fwd.us\/founders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">other sites<\/a>. The 2013&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fwd.us\/founders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">founders<\/a>&nbsp;included Zuckerberg, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, John Doerr at Kleiner Perkins, Matt Cohler at Benchmark, and Breyer Capital CEO Jim Breyer.<\/p>\n<p>FWD.us is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/05\/04\/zuckerbergs-fwd-us-pushes-partisan-amnesty-by-reconciliation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">leading<\/a>&nbsp;the 2022&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tag\/fwd-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">push for more migration and amnesty<\/a>. partly by promoting pro-migration media coverage.<\/p>\n<p>Punchbowl was founded in January 2021 by three journalists and a former Facebook PR official,&nbsp;Rachel Schindler. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/punchbowl.news\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Punchbowl:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Prior to joining Punchbowl News, Rachel led Facebook\u2019s strategy, planning and operations for the global news team. For three years, Rachel specialized in growing revenue-sharing products with media companies around the world.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Punchbowl\u2019s Palmer asked Young, \u201cOne last question on that, though. I mean, you kind of talk about the reskilling: What we can be doing domestically, but what role does immigration reform have on these and the workforce needs that we\u2019re talking about here?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Young responded with a zig-zag, first saying immigration \u201chas an essential role to play,\u201d before saying it must not be used to suppress wages.&nbsp;\u201cI should add that, realistically as a matter of politics and I think a matter of good policy, any immigration reform proposals are going to have to be paired with border security measures to get it done,\u201d Young added.<\/p>\n<p>Young also thanked chipmaker Micron Technology&nbsp;\u201cwho has supported this [media] event.\u201d Most of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.micron.com\/about\/locations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Micron\u2019s facilities<\/a> are in California and other coastal locations. The company has opened facilities in India, from where the company has already imported&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.myvisajobs.com\/Visa-Sponsor\/Micron-Technology\/356824.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">many H-1B visa workers<\/a>&nbsp;and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ice.gov\/doclib\/sevis\/pdf\/data_Top200_EmployersSTEM_OPT_Students2019.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OPT graduates<\/a> for U.S.-based jobs that could be filled by American graduates in the Midwest.<\/p>\n<p>But&nbsp;Young reassured Punchbowl that Americans can do the job:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>If we can harness the talent of rank and file Americans, I really believe we can outgrow and out-innovate other countries. And that, of course, has very important national security implications, especially as you think about our strategic competition with China.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n[embedded content]\n<p>Young\u2019s pro-American January 25 insistence that migration should not damage Americans\u2019 opportunities makes sense for him.<\/p>\n<p>He is facing the electors in November even as more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/01\/10\/former-steeltown-seeks-afghans-to-replace-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">voters recognize how migration reduces investment<\/a> in the heartland by delivering endless foreign labor to coastal investors and employers. His comments about wages and jobs are a quiet admission that American immigration politics are deeply driven by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/15\/exclusive-kat-cammack-gop-immigration-policies-should-put-americans-first\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pocketbook politics<\/a>, even as other GOP politicians <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/11\/11\/report-gop-insiders-will-seek-to-demote-pro-amnesty-rep-john-katko\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pander to donors<\/a> by only touting border chaos and crime.<\/p>\n<p>Migration moves money, and since at least 1990, the federal government has tried&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tag\/extraction-migration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to extract people<\/a>&nbsp;from poor countries so they can serve U.S. investors as cheap workers, government-aided consumers, and high-density renters in the U.S. economy.<\/p>\n<p>That&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2021\/12\/20\/washington-post-low-wage-employers-struggle-after-cheap-labor-bubble\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">economic strategy<\/a>&nbsp;has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/11\/20\/gop-donors-economist-immigration-can-offset-foreign-trade-risks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">no stopping point<\/a>, and it is harmful to ordinary Americans because it cuts their&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2021\/03\/12\/bloomberg-opts-h1bs-take-two-three-new-tech-jobs-each-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">career<\/a>&nbsp;opportunities and their&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/04\/08\/elite-academics-hide-amnesty-wage-pain-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wages<\/a>&nbsp;while it also raises their&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/06\/16\/new-yorks-mayoral-rivals-vow-cheap-housing-plus-more-migrants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">housing costs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Extraction migration also curbs Americans\u2019&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2020\/07\/11\/president-trump-wins-big-on-secret-meatpacking-robots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">productivity<\/a>, shrinks their political&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com+%22john+binder%22+%22demographic+change%22&amp;rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS946US946&amp;oq=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com+%22john+binder%22+%22demographic+change%22&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57j69i58.10228j0j4&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">clout<\/a>, and widens the regional wealth&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/08\/13\/zuckerbergs-data-says-amnesty-gives-economic-windfall-coastal-democratic-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gaps<\/a>&nbsp;between the Democrats\u2019 coastal states and the Republicans\u2019&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/01\/10\/former-steeltown-seeks-afghans-to-replace-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heartland states<\/a>. The growing gaps mean that midwestern states lose investment, jobs, and wealth to the migration-inflated coastal states.<\/p>\n<p>In turn, the loss of wealth means that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=iiRMfb3Z9hg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">heartland states<\/a> get <a href=\"https:\/\/my1053wjlt.com\/songs-with-indiana-in-their-lyrics\/\"
