Dichter told Breitbart News.<\/p>\n<p>Explaining that the \u201cuni-party\u201d in Parliament has become a coalition of \u201ccommunist Liberals\u201d and \u201csocialist Conservatives\u201d working in tandem to effectuate authoritarian coronavirus mandates, Dichter said that the Freedom Convoy represents the only true opposition, which is rooted in the will of the Canadian people.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe reason we are now out-fundraising any political party in Canada\u2019s history is because people don\u2019t have a vote, but you know, they can vote with their money,\u201d he explained. \u201cAnd they can say, \u2018These guys on the other side, hard-working Canadians in the trucking industry, they\u2019re speaking up for us \u2014 <em>that\u2019s<\/em> the opposition.\u2019 They\u2019re giving us money not because they think we need all of this money for the truckers; they just want a voice, and that\u2019s become the voice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Freedom Convoy movement has proliferated to many cities and towns in Canada, defined by a large presence of peaceful protesters and trucks that symbolize the working class. Over the weekend, however, Ottawa \u2014 the central protest location \u2014 has seen its police crack down on protesters, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/06\/ottawa-declares-state-emergency-police-crackdown-truckers\/\">declaring<\/a> a \u201cstate of emergency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Videos of supply confiscations emerged, and Ottawa police warned that \u201canyone attempting to bring material supports (gas, etc.) to the demonstrators could be subject to arrest. Enforcement is underway.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Ottawa police have removed all fuel and propane from Freedom Convoy truck parking lot <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/oJDaceHHlo\">pic.twitter.com\/oJDaceHHlo<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Marie Oakes (@TheMarieOakes) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheMarieOakes\/status\/1490503143838388226?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 7, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Describing the Ottawa city council as \u201ccommunist,\u201d Dichter told Breitbart news that \u201cthe only thing communists know is to get violent and double down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The authoritarianism for Dichter and many Canadians does not just exist among Liberal Party politicians, he explained, it is also boosted by the Tories who have gone along with the mandates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s not just lay the blame solely at the feet of Justin Trudeau,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s why [former Conservative Leader of the Opposition] Erin O\u2019Toole was such a failure as leader, because he was chasing Justin Trudeau off the communist cliff, like both of them are farther left than [former Prime Minister] Jean Chr\u00e9tien.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Toole was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/02\/03\/canada-tories-elect-pro-trucker-mp-as-leader-after-sacking-moderate\/\">ousted<\/a> as Conservative leader toward the beginning of the convoy, after just 18 months in leadership, and replaced with Candice Bergen as interim leader.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The political class in Ottawa is not the only place where Conservative leadership has capitulated to authoritarian rule, Dichter told Breitbart News, explaining that provincial premiers are \u201ctrying to play it both ways.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe premiers who have done these extreme lockdowns have been: [Ontario Premier] Doug Ford, Conservative; [Alberta Premier] Jason Kenney, Conservative; [Nova Scotia Premier] Tim Houston, Conservative; [Saskatchewan Premier] Scott Moe, Conservative,\u201d he said. \u201cSo let\u2019s not play this game that, \u2018Oh, it\u2019s only the Liberals and it\u2019s not the Conservatives.\u2019 No. It\u2019s the political class that needs to be purged of this garbage.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, the political class we have now doesn\u2019t make decisions.&nbsp;They just look at polls.&nbsp;That\u2019s all they do,\u201d Dichter continued. \u201cIt\u2019s frustrating that none of them will use their moral skill to make decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJason Kenney is a perfect example of that,\u201d he explained in response to some premiers toying with the idea of reducing or even cancelling the mandates. \u201cSo they [the political class] see that we\u2019ve managed to shift public perception almost 40 percent in a week. So they\u2019re scared, they know they got to do something. But they haven\u2019t gotten all the polls, they need to tell them which message they need to say.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo in the case of Kenney in Alberta, I think you can see why Kenney has been hated from the very day he weaseled his way into leadership of the UCP party, and then ultimately as Premier,\u201d he continued. \u201cMany people have told me, since he got in office, he\u2019s the best of two evils.&nbsp;\u2026 They never would have anticipated the degree of lockdowns and restrictions that Kenney brought in.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>As another example, Dichter said, \u201c[Quebec Premier Fran\u00e7ois] Legault,&nbsp;who is a Conservative by the way, a populist conservative, has been to the point of Mussolini \u2014 like really crazy restrictions on people like absolutely unacceptable in any sort of liberal democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked how Canada was able to become so authoritarian in his eyes, Dichter pointed to two political realities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCanadians are somewhat passive,\u201d he said, relative to their American neighbors. \u201cWe\u2019re not confrontational until things get really bad or we\u2019re in a hockey rink.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut there comes a point where Canadians get pushed too far,\u201d Dichter continued. \u201cJust so happens that our line is a lot farther than Americans. It\u2019s just the difference of culture between our two countries, right? And it\u2019s not about one\u2019s better than the other, it\u2019s just two different approaches.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The other political reality is geographical.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRemember how spread out Canada is,\u201d he explained noting a large dichotomy between cities and rural areas and their propensity to follow government mandates. \u201cIt\u2019s larger in landmass than the United States, but it has ten percent of the population. You can be in a province that has heavy restrictions, according to the government, but you\u2019d be in rural Ontario, and we get the most draconian lockdown measures, and nobody there is going to pay attention to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody\u2019s just gonna ignore it,\u201d he asserted. \u201cThey\u2019re strong people, they don\u2019t care what the government says \u2014 they\u2019re going to think the government is lying to them anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But a breaking point came, especially for truckers, and Canadians across the country joined in to fight back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt clearly started with truckers and has expanded beyond that,\u201d Dichter told Breitbart News. \u201cI think what you\u2019re seeing in all the videos across the country, you know, those people standing on the side of the road with their families and the kids waving by truckers, those people aren\u2019t truckers, but they\u2019re people who don\u2019t have a voice, and that\u2019s what this is about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo yeah, it started with truckers because they have, you know, the symbolism of a truck of being working class having a large presence,\u201d he continued. \u201cSo it really is an imposing feeling against the people in a major urban center where these people \u2014 you know how the urban elites, they have this worldview, in urban centers, and they have this worldview towards rural communities. And, you know, New York is the same way: a little bit smug and look down upon the working class and rural communities. But now they have no choice. They can\u2019t ignore them because there are 20,000 pound rigs parked right in front of their apartment buildings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To Dichter, their demands of the government are \u201cpretty simple\u201d and remain the same.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur demands are we want to remove the mandates by the government; the lack of freedom of choice,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd we want the digital Passport System abolished that we know, in our mind, is a slippery slope toward authoritarianism and social credit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Breccan F.
