Jamie Raskin failed to report a stock sale ordered by his wife, who President Joe Biden recently nominated to a Federal Reserve vice-chair, in late 2020, according to a complaint filed by the American Accountability Foundation (AAF).<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Bloom Raskin sold <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">195,936<\/span> shares of the financial services provider Reserve Trust, where she <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2022\/02\/03\/who-is-sarah-bloom-raskin-federal-reserve-senate-hearing\/\">sat<\/a> on the board of directors from 2017-2019, in December 2020 for $1.47 million. However, Jamie Raskin submitted the <a href=\"https:\/\/disclosures-clerk.house.gov\/public_disc\/ptr-pdfs\/2021\/20019320.pdf\">filing<\/a> detailing the trade to the House Clerk outside of the 45-day window required by the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act. The complaint was first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/politics\/jamie-raskin-ethics-complaint-sarah-bloom-raskin-stock-payout\">reported<\/a> on by Fox Business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSarah and Jamie Raskin are career politicians who have used the system to enrich themselves, and it is time that someone holds them accountable,\u201d AAF founder Tom Jones told Fox Business. \u201cIf House rules are going to mean anything, the House Ethics Committee needs to open an investigation and sanction Jamie Raskin for hiding this shady stock deal from the public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Rep. Cynthia Lummis during Sarah Bloom Raskin\u2019s confirmation hearing to the Federal Reserve\u2019s vice-chair for Supervision of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Lummis questioned whether Raskin was particularly well-compensated because she helped Reserve Trust obtain access to the Federal Reserve\u2019s master account, which allows it to bypass banks when conducting business. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/02\/senate-banking-committee-republicans-sarah-bloom-raskin-federal-reserve-climate-change\/\">(RELATED: Republicans Attack \u2018Climate Warrior\u2019 Biden Nominee Who Wants To Reimagine Economy)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Raskin told Insider on Feb. 3 that the delay was due to the late December 2020 <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/12\/31\/tommy-was-pure-magic-rep-jamie-raskin-announces-loss-of-his-son-at-25\/\">death<\/a> of his son.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe lost our son during the reporting period, and I filed the report late,\u201d Raskin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/democratic-rep-jamie-raskin-violated-federal-conflict-of-interest-law-2022-2\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint, obtained by the Daily Caller, notes that Raskin did not include Sarah Bloom Raskin\u2019s ownership of the Reserve Trust stock \u201cin the annual disclosures covering the years 2017, 2018, and 2019, before the death of his son.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Raskin\u2019s office did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller\u2019s request for comment on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Congress is currently <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/12\/unusual-whales-stock-trades-congress-members-ban-proposals-nancy-pelosi\/\">considering<\/a> several pieces of legislation that would tighten rules for or even ban members from trading individual stocks, although none have passed out of committee. After initially <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/15\/nancy-pelosi-defends-trading-stock-act\/\">opposing<\/a> changes to stock trading rules, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi recently signaled that she could support an overhaul.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf members want to do that, I\u2019m okay with that,\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/01\/20\/1074387320\/pelosi-opens-the-door-to-stock-trading-ban\">told<\/a> reporters on Jan. 20.<\/p>\n<p>Raskin is one of several Democrats to face recent ethics complaints over the STOCK Act. Iowa Rep. Cindy <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/09\/cindy-axne-stock-trades-house-financial-services-committee\/\">Axne<\/a>, New Jersey Rep. Tom <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/22\/new-jersey-redistricting-tom-malinowski-map-democrat\/\">Malinowski<\/a>, and former California Rep. Harley <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/19\/fact-harley-rouda-stock-act-trades-ethics-complaint\/\">Rouda<\/a> have all been the subjects of complaints filed with the Office of Congressional Ethics for alleged violations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democratic Maryland Rep.
