Djokovic reportedly did not reveal his status to the journalist.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p><em>L\u2019Equipe<\/em>, forcing a government official into the mix who was tasked with translating her remarks.&nbsp;<em>L\u2019Equipe<\/em> provided only the government official\u2019s translation of her comments, not Peng\u2019s original Mandarin-language comments.&nbsp;The magazine revealed in publishing the interview that Beijing demanded it submit its questions to Peng in advance and that she did not answer at least one question \u2013 if the social media post in which she accused former Chinese Olympics head <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/asia\/2021\/11\/24\/chinese-official-who-tennis-star-peng-shuai-accused-of-rape-leads-chinas-olympic-committee\/\">Zhang Gaoli<\/a> of forcing her into sex had resulted in trouble with the government.<\/p>\n<p>The original post appeared on the Chinese government-controlled site Weibo. Peng addressed the post to Zhang. Why, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/tennis\/comments\/qmn69a\/full_translation_of_peng_shuais_weibo_post\/\">asked<\/a>, had he \u201cbrought me to your home and forced me to engage in sexual activities with you\u201d? (WILLIAM WEST\/AFP via Getty)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The post disappeared within about half an hour and Weibo has since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/asia\/2021\/12\/14\/china-fines-weibo-social-media-outlet-half-million-dollars-not-censoring-enough\/\">faced<\/a> a $500,000 fine for publishing \u201cinformation forbidden by law and regulations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to know: why such concern? \u2026 I never said anyone sexually assaulted me,\u201d the Chinese government official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lequipe.fr\/Tennis\/Article\/Peng-shuai-my-life-has-been-what-it-s-supposed-to-be-nothing-special\/1315638\">said<\/a> that Peng said in the&nbsp;<em>L\u2019Equipe<\/em> interview.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1316j2p-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cThere was a huge misunderstanding in the outside world following this post. I don\u2019t want the meaning of this post to be twisted anymore. And I don\u2019t want any further media hype around it,\u201d Peng insisted. \u201cSexual assault? I never said anyone had sexually assaulted me in any way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Peng, according to the government translator, also insisted that she \u201cnever disappeared\u201d and that her original Weibo post disappeared because she \u201cwanted to\u201d delete it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1316j2p-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cIt\u2019s just that many people, like my friends or people from the IOC [International Olympic Committee] messaged me, and it was simply impossible to answer so many messages. But I\u2019ve been always in close contact with my close friends,\u201d the translator claimed that Peng said. \u201cI talked to them, I answered their emails, I also talked with the WTA [Women\u2019s Tennis Association].\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Communist officials shut down CNN\u2019s satellite feed on Chinese television during the cable network\u2019s Monday reporting on missing Chinese tennis player Peng Shuai. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Ohlnf2CHOV\">https:\/\/t.co\/Ohlnf2CHOV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1462886449662078995?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 22, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">The government translator claimed that Peng said that WTA concerns about her wellbeing were caused by IT problems on the WTA website, not on the fact that she accused a powerful Communist Party official of rape and immediately vanished.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00\">The translator concluded by claiming that Peng was excited about the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics \u2013 which is facing a global popular boycott movement in part due to the Chinese government\u2019s suspected abuse of Peng.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ssrcss-uf6wea-RichTextComponentWrapper e1xue1i85\" data-component=\"text-block\">\n<div class=\"ssrcss-17j9f6r-RichTextContainer e5tfeyi1\">\n<p class=\"css-1316j2p-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cThere are many events I\u2019d like to attend, even though there are many sports and many techniques I don\u2019t understand. He was joined by the former Chair of the Athletes\u2019 Commission and IOC member Kirsty Coventry. The meeting took place on Saturday over dinner at the Olympic Club in Beijing,\u201d a statement on Monday read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeng Shuai informed the President that she would attend several events at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 over the coming days,\u201d the IOC claimed. \u201cLater that evening, she and Kirsty Coventry attended the mixed curling match between China and Norway.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The conversation with Peng reportedly consisted of sharing \u201ctheir common experience as athletes at the Olympic Games.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The IOC did not mention the rape controversy or Peng\u2019s disappearance in its statement.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Chinese Communist Party flooded social media this weekend with images of Peng Shuai, a tennis champion who disappeared after accusing a senior communist of raping her, insisting she was neither missing nor in danger. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/682tTLbAqX\">https:\/\/t.co\/682tTLbAqX<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1462921652354928647?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 22, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Chinese government translator\u2019s claim that Peng denied ever accusing Zhang of rape echoes similar statements Peng allegedly made in December, after her disappearance prompted the WTA to suspend all business with China.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst, I need to stress one point that is extremely important, I have never said or written that anyone has sexually assaulted me, I have to clearly stress this point,\u201d Peng reportedly&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/sports\/2021\/12\/19\/peng-shuai-denies-making-sexual-assault-charges-against-chinese-vice-premier\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">said<\/a>&nbsp;in a video.<\/p>\n<p>As she did to&nbsp;<em>L\u2019Equipe<\/em>, Peng also insisted at the time that the alleged rape as a \u201cprivate matter,\u201d even though she prompted the controversy by discussing it publicly.
