Developing the plan under the&nbsp;National Democratic Redistricting Committee he created, Holder was reportedly influential in causing Republican legislatures to be less aggressive.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Holder has reportedly been aggressively using the court system to produce state maps that are \u201cgerrymandered\u201d \u2014 all the while accusing Republicans of gerrymandering their way to victory:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"wsj-article-headline\">Any number of state and federal judges intervened and redrew maps to favor Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>The result is that some state Republican parties are pulling their punches. Tired of getting dragged into drawn-out litigation, sick of being branded Jim Crow, and wary courts might choose to impose their own maps, many GOP state lawmakers this round chose to focus on shoring up their own districts, rather than pushing into Democratic territory.<\/p>\n<p>That didn\u2019t stop Democrats from litigating those maps anyway, as well as more aggressive GOP products\u2014pulling courts into fights in North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and even Alabama.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In the coming months, approximately 75 congressional districts in roughly seven states will be&nbsp;<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/02\/04\/judges-take-over-redistricting-states-00005500\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">finalized<\/a>&nbsp;in courtrooms around the nation as a result of the Democrats\u2019 litigious game plan,&nbsp;<em>Politico<\/em>&nbsp;reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text__paragraph\">\u201cTaken together, the court interventions have eased Democratic fears about redistricting as they sweat over a tough midterm<b>&nbsp;<\/b>political environment,\u201d <em>Politico<\/em> acknowledged. \u201cSo far, the decisions have validated the party\u2019s state-by-state legal strategy and, critically, offered a surprising reprieve from several Republican gerrymandering attempts before a single election could be held under the new lines.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p class=\"story-text__paragraph\">The chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Sean Patrick Maloney&nbsp;(D-NY), told <em>Politico<\/em> he gives the credit to Holder\u2019s&nbsp;National Democratic Redistricting Committee:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Look at the teamwork on the part of the DCCC, the National Democratic Redistricting Committee under Eric Holder\u2019s leadership and a lot of our allies and partners. This has been a team effort and we\u2019re in decent shape. We\u2019re not taking anything for granted but we\u2019re doing a hell of a lot better than I thought we would.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"attachment_18477258\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/SPM.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18477258\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/SPM.jpg\" alt=\"WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 16: U.S. Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) (C) pauses prior to a bill enrollment ceremony to designate the National Pulse Memorial in Orlando, Florida, at the U.S. Capitol June 16, 2021 (Photo by Alex Wong\/Getty Images).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Adam Kincaid, executive director of the National Republican Redistricting Trust, the opposition to Holder\u2019s litigious approach, told the publication that Republicans have slacked on electing and appointing judges who apply the law as written instead of&nbsp;creating new law.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text__paragraph\">\u201cRepublicans need to take supreme State Supreme Court races seriously,\u201d Kincaid said. \u201cWe need conservative judges who will actually apply the laws as written versus these liberal judges who will just create new law. There\u2019s no precedent for what\u2019s happening in several of these states.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text__paragraph\">Meanwhile, as states are bracing for decisions from the courts, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) asked for a preemptive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/02\/01\/desantis-florida-weigh-in-on-congressional-map-00004283\">ruling<\/a> on his proposed redistricting map to presumably circumvent Democrat lawsuits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text__paragraph\">DeSantis did so after the Republican-controlled legislature, led by establishment House Speaker Chris Sprowls (R) and president of the Florida Senate, Wilton Simpson (R), was hesitant to enact DeSantis\u2019s map:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING: A NEW Congressional map just released tonight from Governor DeSantis\u2019 Office. Anthony Sabatini (@AnthonySabatini) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AnthonySabatini\/status\/1482914214574538754?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 17, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"story-text__paragraph\">\u201cI think we are going to be able to get to a good spot and have a good product,\u201d DeSantis said during Tuesday\u2019s press conference about his request to the court. \u201cWe\u2019ve got to get a couple of legal issues squared away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text__paragraph\">After taking loss after loss in recent weeks in New York, Alabama, and Pennsylvania, the GOP is counting on Florida to pick up the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/04\/redistricting-expert-republicans-losing-to-democrats-nationwide-redistricting-battle\/\">slack<\/a>, David Wasserman, senior editor of the Cook Political Report, suggested Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text__paragraph\">According to Wasserman, Democrats have&nbsp;taken&nbsp;a two- to three-seat advantage in the redistricting battle where Republicans were expected to dominate.<\/p>\n<p>The establishment media have taken notice how \u201c<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/nymag.com\/intelligencer\/2021\/12\/democrats-are-doing-weirdly-well-in-redistricting.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">weirdly well<\/a>\u201d Democrats are performing in nationwide redistricting battles. \u201c[A]ccording to at least one analyst, there is actually an outside chance that the final map will be tilted, ever so slightly, in the&nbsp;<em>Democrats\u2019<\/em>&nbsp;favor,\u201d the&nbsp;<em>New York Magazine&nbsp;<\/em>reported in December.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans, however, still have the momentum to overturn Rep. Nancy Pelosi\u2019s (D-CA) five-seat majority in the House. President Joe Biden\u2019s approval rating is pegged at 33 percent. And&nbsp;29 House Democrats have announced they are not running for reelection.
