But will the U.S. provide any evidence? Because there may be people that are skeptical of the events that took place and what happened to the civilians.<\/p>\n<p>MS. PSAKI: Skeptical of the U.S. military\u2019s assessment when they went and took out an ISIS terror- \u2014 the leader of ISIS?<\/p>\n<p>Q. Yes.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Psaki expressed disappointment that journalists were not willing to believe the official government narrative, suggesting that any questioning of the U.S. government was akin to trust in the Islamic State.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>MS. PSAKI: That they are not providing accurate information \u2026 and ISIS is providing accurate information?<\/p>\n<p>Q. Well, not ISIS, but, I mean, the U.S. has not always been straightforward about what happens with civilians. (Photo by AAREF WATAD\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>At a separate press briefing, the State Department faced accusations of embracing conspiracy theories over the claim, which it has not backed with evidence, that Russia was planning to stage a \u201cfalse flag\u201d&nbsp;attempt to generate support for invading Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, we can say that the United States has information that Russia is planning to stage fabricated attacks by Ukrainian military or intelligence forces as a pretext for a further invasion of Ukraine,\u201d State Department spokesman Ned Price announced to reporters at a briefing on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Journalist Matt Lee from the Associated Press demanded evidence from the Biden team to prove their narrative, accusing the White House of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/03\/watch-ap-reporter-questions-biden-admins-russian-false-flag-narrative-alex-jones-territory\/\">straying<\/a> into \u201cAlex Jones territory\u201d and leading to a lengthy exchange.<\/p>\n<p>From the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/briefings\/department-press-briefing-february-3-2022\/\">transcript<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>LEE: I mean, I\u2019m not saying that they\u2019re not. But you just come out and say this and expect us just to believe it without you showing a shred of evidence that it\u2019s actually true \u2013 other than when I ask or when anyone else asks what\u2019s the information, you said, well, I just gave it to you, which was just you making a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Caught off guard, Price repeated that he was giving journalists information and that they were only complaining about the \u201cformat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>MR PRICE: You know that when we declassify intelligence, we do so in a means \u2014<\/p>\n<p>LEE: That\u2019s right. And I remember WMDs in Iraq, and I \u2014<\/p>\n<p>MR PRICE: \u2014 we do so with an eye to protecting sources and methods.<\/p>\n<p>LEE: And I remember that Kabul was not going to fall. I remember a lot of things. You know that when we make information \u2013 intelligence information public we do so in a way that protects sensitive sources and methods. You also know that we do so \u2013 we declassify information \u2013 only when we\u2019re confident in that information.<\/p>\n<p>LEE: But Ned, you haven\u2019t given any information.<\/p>\n<p>MR PRICE: If you doubt \u2013 if you doubt the credibility of the U.S. Government, of the British Government, of other governments, and want to find solace in information that the Russians are putting out \u2014<\/p>\n<p>LEE: Solace?<\/p>\n<p>MR PRICE: \u2014 that is for you to do.<\/p>\n<p>LEE: I don\u2019t want \u2013 I\u2019m not asking what the Russian Government is putting out.
