Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois for their continued criticism of former President Donald Trump and their participation in the Jan. 6 select committee investigating the Capitol riot.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/context\/rnc-resolution-to-censure-cheney-kinzinger\/cf48ebbc-aeb2-42c2-9a6b-3802186203e3\/?itid=lk_inline_manual_8&amp;itid=lk_inline_manual_9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">resolution<\/a> passed during the RNC\u2019s winter meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, and it passed unanimously.<\/p>\n<p>The resolution alleged that the roles of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/02\/january-6-commission-liz-cheney-vice-chair-republicans-move-oust-her\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cheney<\/a> and Kinzinger on the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/30\/house-of-representatives-capitol-riot-donald-trump-nancy-pelosi-kevin-mccarthy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">committee<\/a> amounted to \u201cpersecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse.\u201d It also said that as a result, the RNC would \u201cimmediately cease any and all support of them as members of the Republican Party,\u201d calling their actions \u201cdestructive\u201d to the House of Representatives and the country. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/21\/bennie-thompson-capitol-riot-donald-trump-nancy-pelosi-kevin-mccarthy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: \u2018Nothing Is Off Limits\u2019 When It Comes To Trump Testifying, Capitol Riot Commission Chair Says)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7274634\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7274634\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Reps. (Chip Somodevilla\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The formal censure, coming closer to the 2022 midterms than to the Capitol riot itself, was criticized by several Republican lawmakers. \u201cThe RNC is censuring Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger because they are trying to find out what happened on January 6th \u2013 HUH?\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenBillCassidy\/status\/1489448776959991815\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy late Thursday.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/17\/mitch-mcconnell-january-6-public-needs-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: McConnell: Jan. 6 Committee Findings Are \u2018Something The Public Needs To Know\u2019)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cShame falls on a party that would censure persons of conscience, who seek truth in the face of vitriol,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MittRomney\/status\/1489611374930141184\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a>&nbsp;Utah Sen.
