Version: 4.0.47--><div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Bezos-Bridge-640x335-1.png\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">A historic steel bridge in the Netherlands is to be partly dismantled in order to allow Jeff Bezos\u2019 new superyacht to pass.<\/p>\n<p>The Koningshaven Bridge \u2014 more commonly known as De Hef \u2014 is to be partly dismantled in order to allow Jeff Bezos\u2019 new superyacht to pass underneath.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Located in Rotterdam, the bridge was first constructed in the 1920s and was later renovated between 2014 and 2017, after which officials reportedly claimed it would never be taken apart ever after.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2022\/feb\/02\/rotterdam-to-partly-dismantle-historic-bridge-for-jeff-bezoss-superyacht\">according<\/a> to an AFP report, the top of the bridge will once again be disassembled in order to allow a newly constructed superyacht owned by multi-billionaire Jeff Bezos to pass.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the only route to the sea,\u201d the AFP reports a spokesman for Rotterdam\u2019s mayor as saying.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The spokesman also reportedly added that the Amazon co-founder would be footing the bill for the project.<\/p>\n<p>While the move has angered many in the Netherlands, the mayor\u2019s office emphasised the economic benefits of the project, which is due to last a number of weeks, and that the national monument will be reconstructed in its current form.<\/p>\n<p>Many remain unhappy regarding the decision however, with over 2,000 people responding to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/302570991844953\/?ref=newsfeed\">event<\/a> on Facebook calling on Rotterdammers to throw rotten eggs at the yacht as it sails past the iconic bridge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCalling all Rotterdammers, take a box of (rotten) eggs with you and let\u2019s throw them en masse at Jeff\u2019s superyacht when it sails through the Hef in Rotterdam,\u201d the event\u2019s description reads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRotterdam was built from the rubble by the people of Rotterdam, and we don\u2019t just take that apart for the phallus symbol of a megalomaniac billionaire,\u201d it continues. \u201cNot without a fight!\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Delingpole: Bezos\u2019s $10 Billion Greenwash Is Disgusting, Hypocritical and Wrong <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XaOV1bv58E\">https:\/\/t.co\/XaOV1bv58E<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1230436682668920832?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 20, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bezos\u2019 new 130ft tall superyacht \u2014 which is being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2021\/05\/12\/jeff-bezos-buys-yacht-so-large-it-comes-with-a-support-yacht\/\">constructed<\/a> by yacht builder Oceanco \u2014 will be the largest of its kind in the world, and is rumoured to boast a \u201csupport yacht\u201d with a helicopter pad, something the main yacht could not apparently have built-in due to it reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/features\/2021-05-07\/jeff-bezos-s-new-superyacht-heralds-roaring-market-for-big-boats\">sporting<\/a> large sails.<\/p>\n<p>Reports also claim that the yacht \u2014 which is titled Project 721 \u2014 will be 127 meters long, and likely cost more than half a billion US Dollars.<\/p>\n<p>However, as someone who has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2020\/02\/17\/jeff-bezos-creates-10-billion-fund-to-combat-climate-change\/\">committed $10 Billion<\/a> to a fund that aims to tackle climate change, the on-and-off world\u2019s richest man has previously gained media attention over his yachting habit.<\/p>\n<p>Before travelling to the COP26 U.N. Climate Summit on his $65 million private jet, Bezos <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2021\/11\/01\/jeff-bezos-takes-private-jet-to-cop26-for-climate-change-chat-with-prince-charles\/\">reportedly<\/a> spent time relaxing with Microsoft founder Bill Gates on their respective yachts, which were situated at the time off the Turkish coast.<\/p>\n<p>After arriving in Scotland for the event, Bezos went on to make a speech at the conference <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/business-59132104\">discussing<\/a> how seeing the Earth from space \u2014 the billionaire technically became an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2021\/12\/13\/faa-caves-will-award-astronaut-wings-to-jeff-bezos-richard-branson\/\">astronaut<\/a> after blasting off earlier in the year \u2014 changed his perspective on the fragility of the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLooking back at Earth from up there, the atmosphere seems so thin, the world so finite and so fragile,\u201d the soon-to-be superyacht owner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/business-59132104\">said,<\/a> according to the BBC. \u201cNow, in this critical year and what we all know is the decisive decade, we must all stand together to protect our world.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A historic steel bridge in the Netherlands is to be partly dismantled in order to allow Jeff Bezos\u2019 new superyacht to pass.
