A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/60199614\">fact-check<\/a> from the BBC\u2019s \u201cReality Check team\u201d purports to refute four claims made on \u201cThe Joe Rogan Experience\u201d \u2014 but Rogan did not make all of the claims examined, and the BBC confirms a statement made by a guest on the show, but persists in calling it \u201cmisleading.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fact-check 1: Are young people more likely to get myocarditis from the vaccine or COVID-19?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The BBC analyzes the notion that \u201cfor young people, the health risks from the vaccine are greater than from Covid\u201d \u2014 but Joe Rogan made no such claim. Rogan actually said, \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s true there\u2019s an <em>increased risk of myocarditis<\/em> from people catching COVID-19 that are young, versus the risk from the vaccine.\u201d (Emphasis added.)<\/p>\n<p>The BBC claims that \u201cresearch has shown\u201d that myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart \u201cwhich can lead to shortness of breath, chest pain and in very rare cases to heart failure, is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.phc.ox.ac.uk\/news\/covid-19-infection-more-likely-than-vaccines-to-cause-rare-cardiovascular-complications\"><strong>considerably more common after a Covid infection than after vaccination.<\/strong><\/a>\u201d But the BBC ignores the fact that Rogan spoke about \u201cyoung\u201d people, not all members of society as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>The study the BBC cites <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phc.ox.ac.uk\/news\/covid-19-infection-more-likely-than-vaccines-to-cause-rare-cardiovascular-complications\">actually found<\/a> that people under the age of 40 had a 50% higher chance of developing myocarditis after being fully vaccinated than after contracting COVID-19:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>The findings show the risks of myocarditis associated with the two mRNA vaccines to be slightly higher in people aged under 40 and particularly after the second Moderna vaccine. For these people, the study estimated that there were an extra 10 myocarditis events per million people following a positive SARS-CoV-2 test and an extra 15 per million following a second dose of mRNA-1273 (Moderna) vaccine.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Numerous governments \u2014 including the U.S., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/several-nordic-countries-pause-moderna-vaccine-in-young-people-over-link-to-heart-inflammation\">Sweden, Finland, Norway, Demark<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/belgium-no-longer-recommending-moderna-vaccine-for-those-under-31-due-to-risk-of-heart-inflamation\">Belgium<\/a> \u2014 have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cdc-examining-reports-of-heart-inflammation-in-young-males-after-covid-19-shot\">identified<\/a> myocarditis as a side effect of the COVID-19 vaccination for young males. Yet vaccine companies are testing a vaccine on children as young as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/healthcare-pharmaceuticals\/pfizer-submits-data-seeking-us-approval-covid-vaccine-young-kids-bloomberg-2022-02-01\/\">six months old<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fact-check 2: People who are vaccinated after recovering from COVID-19 are at greater risk of developing side effects <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The BBC notes, \u201cOne of Mr Rogan\u2019s most controversial guests has been the virologist Robert Malone,\u201d adding that Malone appeared on Rogan\u2019s show soon after being banned from Twitter in December.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmong the misleading claims made in this podcast episode was one suggesting people who are vaccinated after having Covid-19 are at greater risk of adverse side effects,\u201d the BBC fact-check said.<\/p>\n<p>The BBC then verifies the accuracy of that claim. \u201cIn one UK study, researchers found that vaccine after effects were more common in those who already had Covid,\u201d the BBC notes, although it says the study \u201conly looked at mild after effects, such as fatigue, chills and headaches.\u201d The BBC offers no additional refutation.<\/p>\n<p>Numerous studies agree with Malone\u2019s reported claim:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Johns Hopkins University <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hopkinsmedicine.org\/health\/conditions-and-diseases\/coronavirus\/covid-vaccine-side-effects#:~:text=If%20you%20had%20COVID%2D,after%20the%20first%20dose.\">states<\/a>, \u201cIf you had COVID-19 before being vaccinated, the first injection may cause more noticeable side effects than for people who have not had the coronavirus\u201d;<\/li>\n<li>A British <a href=\"https:\/\/covid.joinzoe.com\/post\/vaccine-after-effects-more-common-in-those-who-already-had-covid\">study<\/a> says that \u201cpeople who have had a previous COVID-19 infection are almost twice as likely to experience one or more mild whole body (systemic) after effects compared to people who didn\u2019t have COVID-19 (33% vs 19%) from a Pfizer\/BioNTech vaccine dose\u201d;<\/li>\n<li>A U.S. study has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medrxiv.org\/content\/10.1101\/2021.01.29.21250653v1.full.pdf\">found<\/a>, \u201cVaccine recipients with pre-existing immunity experience systemic side effects with a significantly higher frequency\u201d than those who had not contracted COVID before vaccination; and<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.medrxiv.org\/content\/10.1101\/2021.04.15.21252192v1\">Another study<\/a> states that the occurrence of certain side effects after vaccination <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/vaccines\/covid-19-vaccine\/news\/20210430\/some-vaccine-side-effects-may-mean-previous-infection\">could indicate<\/a> that the individual had recovered from COVID-19.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The bottom line<\/strong>: In one case, the BBC created a strawman argument; in another, it verified the claim made on Rogan\u2019s podcast.<\/p>\n<p>The BBC\u2019s Reality Check team needs a reality check.<\/p>\n<p><em>The views expressed in this piece are the author\u2019s own and do not necessarily represent those of The Daily Wire<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
