A spokesperson from the OPP denied the claim and stated the figures were \u201cwell off.\u201d A spokesperson for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) likewise denied the claim.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A coalition of truckers and their allies gathered in Ottawa over the Jan. 28 weekend in protest of a vaccine mandate aimed at unvaccinated truckers, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/coronavirus-pandemic-health-business-ottawa-canada-87496fa7a60183c5ab4f253f76dbb7ba\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Associated Press<\/a>. A screen grab of a text claims the OPP and RCMP estimated the protest involved 2.3 million people and more than 100,000 trucks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe OPP have reported over 100,000 trucks in Ottawa, an estimated 2.3 million on foot and an \u2018abudance\u2019 (sic) of trucks parked in fields just outside of the city,\u201d reads the image in part. \u201cRCMP reports over 130,000 trucks in the city and more than 20,000 parked in fields outside of the city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There is no evidence that either police force reported such estimates. Check Your Fact reviewed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opp.ca\/news\/#\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">news<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca\/en\/news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">releases<\/a> from both agencies and found no record of such reports.
