Burt Jones (R-Jackson) called for an investigation into the Gwinnett County School Board on Wednesday after the board elected a new chair who has a trove of inflammatory and racially charged social media posts.<\/p>\n<p>Jones asked the State Board of Education to launch a probe into school board chair Tarece Johnson\u2019s \u201cstatements, implemented policies, and administrative actions\u201d as her collection of posts on TikTok come under growing scrutiny for their extremist nature.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cNow more than ever, our education system needs welcoming role models who can provide guidance and assurance to students of all backgrounds, and Dr. Johnson\u2019s actions severely undermine that mission and further divide our students and schools,\u201d Jones <a href=\"https:\/\/files.constantcontact.com\/6655d8eb801\/bec4a9d4-65bc-4268-bf1a-cd07a12ecef3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a> in a letter on Wednesday to the Georgia Department of Education.<\/p>\n<p>Gwinnett is the second-most populous county in Georgia, situated in Metro Atlanta\u2019s northeast region, and is home to nearly one million people. Its school system is the largest in Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson, an outspoken Black Lives Matter advocate,&nbsp;was elected as chair of the Gwinnett school board in January after running unopposed for the position. She had previously served on the board since January 2021.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Among the countless posts on her TikTok account, Johnson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@dr.tarece\/video\/6860176267904290053?_d=secCgYIASAHKAESPgo8qZ4pLQRKdc1IsjCqeHY%2FGaaYNlnS9P7M78MJYiAe18d0RboBgINc%2Bpx2ejj4Xp8EJ83cJCn23JlScbiwGgA%3D&amp;checksum=f6a82d7e7b40e85e15dd260b8035203902ef204eddf8566c88a2498ffb058142&amp;clips_cover_ab=v4&amp;enable_clips=1&amp;language=en&amp;preview_pb=0&amp;sec_user_id=MS4wLjABAAAAxMTnSqXEqSWylkReURcteLhFPK3Bce1uCnjN1b_zeWeh9flYO-0o9ClVBW6weo4z&amp;share_app_id=1233&amp;share_item_id=6860176267904290053&amp;share_link_id=C4C305F5-DE45-46D1-8F82-8796E4FE62EE&amp;source=h5_m&amp;timestamp=1642879193&amp;tt_from=sms&amp;u_code=dglef5gcfk490d&amp;user_id=6923723137360266245&amp;utm_campaign=client_share&amp;utm_medium=ios&amp;utm_source=sms&amp;_r=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">explains<\/a> in one post from August 2020:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Because we live in a society that glorifies whiteness, we are all impacted. Black people are impacted because we internalize it as racism and white people are also impacted because they are socialized racists. White people have privilege just because of the color of their skin. They have advantages that black people and brown people do not have.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In another post, she is pictured aggressively waving a Black Lives Matter flag while dancing and lip-syncing chants in various costumes, including a vampire costume:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Praying for all the children in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GwinnettSchools?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@GwinnettSchools<\/a>. I wish I was joking <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wt5fLebEjF\">pic.twitter.com\/wt5fLebEjF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Libs of Tik Tok (@libsoftiktok) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/libsoftiktok\/status\/1485409442048856068?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 24, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Johnson, on her now-private Twitter account, also wrote in June 2021, \u201cas reflected in the Georgia State Board of Education\u2019s CRT resolution, Georgia is a racist State where white fragility, privilege, and power reign supreme. (File).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Brenda Stewart, one of two Gwinnett mothers who were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/education\/woman-arrested-at-gwinnett-school-board-meeting-denies-allegations\/O5CBLOQ4BRDJTHCXU27ME2JUYE\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arrested<\/a> at a school board meeting in November, told Breitbart News that \u201cmany parents call her TikTokTarece\u201d and that Johnson \u201cis obsessed with race, social justice and equity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jones called her social media posts \u201churtful and egregious,\u201d adding that \u201cthey only serve to further divide our country and our classrooms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Influential conservative think tank Heritage Action&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Heritage_Action\/status\/1488912832909488138?s=20&amp;t=lEKv-VGpuMnvuiiCFQmMjw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">noted<\/a> a book by Johnson in which she wrote, \u201cImplicit in effective multicultural learning, especially with consideration of racial diversity and equity in education, is critical race theory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Heritage also <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Heritage_Action\/status\/1488912829113679877?s=20&amp;t=lEKv-VGpuMnvuiiCFQmMjw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> it \u201cdebunked\u201d a Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) claim that it did not use critical race theory after GCPS appeared to have removed instructions from its website that told students explicitly to use critical race theory.<\/p>\n<p>Jones also highlighted this matter in his letter, writing, \u201cThe notion that the largest school district in our state would be surreptitiously injecting such divisive curriculum into our children\u2019s classrooms \u2014 and then attempting to cover it up \u2014 is both egregious and completely unacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Republican state senator asked the state education board to \u201cevaluate all potential options within its authority\u201d to address Johnson\u2019s extensive history of race-based commentary, as well as the GCPS curriculum concerns.<\/p>\n<p><em>Write to Ashley Oliver at&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"mailto:aoliver@breitbart.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">aoliver@breitbart.com<\/a>.
