CNN staffers awkwardly navigated the pairing, since every time they dealt with her, they were keenly aware that she was involved with the boss. They were rolling their eyes at Gollust\u2019s own statement that said \u201crecently, our relationship changed during Covid.\u201d It had been going on for much longer:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2017\/04\/14\/cnn-honchos-have-heated-exchange-at-swanky-media-party\/amp\/\"><em>Page Six<\/em>&nbsp;would wink at it<\/a>&nbsp;from time to time, and the two have known each other since they worked together at NBC decades ago.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Zucker on Wednesday morning announced he was stepping down from CNN after failing to disclose a relationship with a Gollust.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAs part of the investigation into Chris Cuomo\u2019s tenure at CNN, I was asked about a consensual relationship with my closest colleague, someone I have worked with for more than 20 years,\u201d Zucker wrote in a memo to staffers. \u201cI acknowledged the relationship evolved in recent years. I was required to disclose it when it began but I didn\u2019t. I was wrong. As a result, I am resigning today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zucker did not name Gollust in his memo. The CNN marketing boss has previously served as communications director for disgraced former New York Gov.&nbsp;<span class=\"rollover-people\" data-behavior=\"rolloverpeople\">Andrew Cuomo<\/span>&nbsp;(D), who resigned last summer amid accusations of sexual harassment and misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>CNN Executive vice presidents Michael Bass, Amy Entelis, and Ken Jautz will&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brianstelter\/status\/1488934716816433158?s=20&amp;t=AQEIoplBwozmKQKBo27YBw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">replace<\/a>&nbsp;Zucker, according to CNN\u2019s chief media correspondent Brian Stelter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former CNN president Jeff Zucker\u2019s romantic relationship with the network\u2019s chief marketing officer, Allison Gollust, was apparently well-known to some in the media, according to a report.
