Spain also requires the use of a mask in \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/foreign-travel-advice\/spain\/coronavirus#:~:text=The%20use%20of%20face%20coverings,of%201.5%20metres%20is%20observed.\">many<\/a>\u201d indoor as well as outdoor public areas.<\/p>\n<p>An airline <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/passengers-face-years-of-facemasks-on-planes-8ttgvwfzl\">source<\/a> told&nbsp;<em>The Times<\/em> that: \u201cthe rules in the U.S. are very clear on masks. It would be ridiculous of us to ask passengers to put them on when we enter their airspace\u201d. Sorahan also highlighted that the airline industry is slow to remove safety procedures once they are introduced such as removing liquids from hand luggage so they\u2019re scanned separately at security checkpoints.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"paywall-EAB47CFD\">The restrictions on liquids where passengers can only carry 100ml of any type of liquid and that it has to be taken out of hand luggage ats security came as a result of an attempted terrorist attack in 2006,&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"paywall-EAB47CFD\">where an<\/span><span class=\"paywall-EAB47CFD\">&nbsp;al-Qaeda cell consisting of three British Muslim men had planned to blow up multip<\/span><span class=\"paywall-EAB47CFD\">e planes in suicide bombing attempts with homemade liquid explosives.
