Not both,\u201d Young said in a quickly-deleted open Jan. 24 letter on his website.<\/p>\n<p>Young objected to Rogan spreading \u201cmisinformation\u201d about COVID-19. His rallying cry lured Joni Mitchell and Nils Lofgren to pull their music from Spotify, too.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The mainstream media, eager to pile on the free-thinking podcaster, amplified the musicians\u2019 cries while ignoring their own \u201cmisinformation\u201d barrage (think: the Hunter Biden laptop scandal, the Russian collusion narrative, and much more).<\/p>\n<p>Rogan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/30\/watch-joe-rogan-responds-spotify-content-advisories-vows-balance-opposing-viewpoints\/\">agreed<\/a> with Spotify\u2019s decision to add \u201ccontent warnings\u201d to his COVID-19 episodes in the Instagram clip. He also praised Young and vowed to bring more \u201cbalance\u201d to the show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to show all kinds of opinions so we can all figure out what\u2019s going on and not just about COVID, about everything, about health, about fitness, wellness, the state of the world itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He didn\u2019t rage against his critics or explain why his show delivers much-needed<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>balance to mainstream news as is.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Fans worried Rogan\u2019s critics would be emboldened by his defeatist posture.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cYou retreat, they encroach,\u201d fellow podcaster Adam Carolla <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/carolla-prager-pc-police\/\">said<\/a> of the censorial Left, and with good reason.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Yet Rogan may have set his critics a trap, one they didn\u2019t see coming.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Let\u2019s take Rogan\u2019s \u201cbalance\u201d vow, for example.<\/p>\n<p>Could Rogan open his Spotify showcase up to Dr. Anthony Fauci, the man most associated with pandemic groupthink? It seems the perfect way to assuage his critics. Chances are it\u2019ll never happen.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Fauci rarely appears in media outlets willing to challenge his views. Case in point: He\u2019s refused an invite from <i>The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton<\/i> syndicated radio show. The conservative duo has been highly critical of Dr. Fauci, but an appearance on the show would give him access to a skeptical audience.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Could some vaccine-hesitant listeners get their first jab after such an appearance? Wouldn\u2019t that be worth Dr. Fauci\u2019s time?<\/p>\n<p>If Dr. Fauci won\u2019t show up there, he\u2019d never submit to one of Rogan\u2019s three-hour interviews, where tough but fair questions are the norm.<\/p>\n<p>Other mainstream experts, ill-prepared for challenging queries, may similarly shrink under Rogan\u2019s questioning. They\u2019ll end up like CNN\u2019s Dr. Sanjay Gupta, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/joe-rogan-defends-sanjay-gupta-cnn\">withered<\/a> under Rogan\u2019s rat-a-tat questions about his network\u2019s overt bias.<\/p>\n<p>Spotify\u2019s new content warnings should be sufficient to appease reasonable critics. That, plus Rogan\u2019s magnanimous video explainer, should have addressed any remaining concerns.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s already proving insufficient. Rogan\u2019s detractors want him gone. Period.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve already seen Graham Nash and India Arie yank their songs off Spotify following Rogan\u2019s Instagram comments. (Arie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2022\/02\/01\/more-musicians-boycott-spotify-in-support-of-neil-young-after-joe-rogan-bends-the-knee\/\">complained<\/a> Rogan\u2019s racial conversations were \u201cproblematic\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>This fight isn\u2019t new, and it\u2019s far from over.<\/p>\n<p>Recall how some Spotify employees demanded editorial oversight over the show two years ago when Rogan gave time to Abigail Shrier, an author <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmusicnews.com\/2020\/09\/18\/joe-rogan-spotify-editorial-oversight\/\">critical<\/a> of select elements of the trans movement.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s the sizable downside to Rogan\u2019s charm offensive.<\/p>\n<p>Rogan is hopelessly na\u00efve about the stakes in play. As a center-left soul, he hasn\u2019t experienced the drumbeat of attacks conservatives routinely face. He\u2019s unaware of how rabid, and unrelenting, the assaults will be from across the culture (Hollywood, the media, academia) until he does precisely as he\u2019s told.<\/p>\n<p>He got a taste of that treatment when major news outlets reported that he took \u201chorse dewormer\u201d after gulping down a cocktail of meds, including Ivermectin, to battle COVID-19 last year.<\/p>\n<p>That set Rogan off, sparking his debate with Dr. Gupta and recent complaints about media bias.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s about to get a whole new education on the Left\u2019s fight to squelch free thinkers.
