There, he will lay out his goal of reducing the cancer death rate by at least 50% over the course of 25 years, according to a White House <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/02\/02\/fact-sheet-president-biden-reignites-cancer-moonshot-to-end-cancer-as-we-know-it\/\">fact sheet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He, alongside the first lady, will also push for more people to get screened for cancer \u2013 something that many Americans skipped during the COVID-19 pandemic, NBC News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/think\/opinion\/covid-s-impact-cancer-care-turning-oncologists-worst-fears-reality-ncna1257743\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Cancer Moonshot will aim to improve the life of those battling and surviving cancer. It\u2019s being revamped now because \u201ca lot has changed,\u201d according to an administration official who added that they believe they can \u201cset really ambitious goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the initiative is being relaunched on Wednesday, very little money remains of the $1.8 billion provided by Congress in <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2017\/01\/16\/biden-calls-on-trump-to-continue-cancer-moonshot-initiative\/\">2016<\/a>. The administration official, speaking to reporters in a call previewing the announcement, expressed confidence for \u201crobust funding going forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some of Cancer Moonshot\u2019s more general goals include diagnosing cancer sooner, preventing cancer and &nbsp;improving progress against particularly deadly and rare cancers, including childhood cancer.<\/p>\n<p>The administration plans to form a \u201cCancer Cabinet\u201d for Cancer Moonshot, according to the White House fact sheet.
