Mark Kelly (D-AZ) leads a generic Republican by a small margin in a hypothetical midterm matchup, an Arizona Public Opinion Pulse survey released Tuesday found.<\/p>\n<p>The survey <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ohpredictive.com\/press-releases\/state-of-the-arizona-u.s.-senate-contest\">previewed<\/a> what it predicted will be a \u201ccompetitive election for U.S. Senate\u201d this year as Kelly (pictured) prepares to defend his seat.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>In a race between Kelly and a generic Republican candidate, Kelly leads 42 percent to 38 percent. This is significant, as his lead is less than a percentage point outside the survey\u2019s margin of error. What is more, 19 percent of respondents remain \u201cunsure\u201d who they would support.<\/p>\n<p>Among independents, specifically, Kelly sees 40 percent support to a generic Republican\u2019s 25 percent, but over one third, 35 percent, remain unsure as well.<\/p>\n<p>Per the survey:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Four in five (80%) Republican voters say they would support the Republican nominee, and likewise for Democrats in their support for Mark Kelly. But once again, we continue to see signs that Independent voters will be instrumental in deciding Kelly\u2019s fate: 35% of them are still unsure how they plan to vote in the Senate race.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The same survey took a look at the Republican primary race for Senate and found a 47 percent of Republicans remaining undecided.
