He is facing election this year, and his strong border enforcement policy gets 45 percent support among Latinos. That result is close to the state-wide support of 52 percent, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/politics\/2022\/01\/31\/abbott-support-remains-solid-on-border-issues-but-costs-of-wall-arent-popular-says-new-poll\/\">poll<\/a>, conducted in both English and Spanish.<\/p>\n<p>The poll is more evidence that the Democrats\u2019 pro-corporate amnesty-and-migration politics are pushing blue-collar and white-collar Latinos to support the populist GOP.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple political analysts are warning Democratic leaders they must push back against their pro-migration progressive base \u2014 which includes many woke college graduates \u2014 or face a blowout in the 2022 mid-term elections. So far, Democrats leaders are refusing to openly change their pro-migration policy, although Biden\u2019s political staff has forced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/news\/the-political-scene\/the-disillusionment-of-a-young-biden-official\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">some extremists<\/a> out of the administration and is quietly working with Mexico to block some of the South American migrants.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWhat you see is a big, big [Latino] shift towards the Republican Party,\u201d outside California,&nbsp; said Mike Madrid, a California-based GOP strategist prominent in the NeverTrump movement. The shift, Madrid said in&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PoliticologyPod\/status\/1474027452921958401\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">a recent podcast<\/a>, is fueled by the Democrats\u201d collective hostility to middle-class industries and jobs, he suggested:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>There\u2019s plenty of data to suggest that the real problem here is a policy problem: The Democrats are increasingly a party that is having trouble with working-class Americans because of a lot of the issues that they champion. They are viewed as the enemy of a lot of industries that provide for an $80,000 to $100,000-a-year job working in energy, working in the construction trades, working in all of these industries \u2026 It\u2019s really that simple: \u201cIt\u2019s the economy, stupid,\u201d right?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, the GOP\u2019s establishment wing is resisting policy concessions towards the Latino votes, many of who are backing policies that will raise their wages. For example, the donor-funded GOP leaders are refusing to tout the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/01\/31\/ohio-senate-race-democrat-ryan-touts-bbb-amnesty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">huge pocketbook damage<\/a> done to Americans by the bipartisan establishment\u2019s economic policy of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tag\/extraction-migration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">extraction migration<\/a>. Since 1990, that policy has pulled millions of migrants from poor countries to serve Wall Street \u2014 and its <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/disolis\/status\/1488209480466812930?s=20&amp;t=MFX0hwt6Lk1OX3eSjEPGCg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">progressive allies<\/a> \u2014 as extra consumers, renters, and workers.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bgmasters?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@bgmasters<\/a>: \u201cWe know what to do. We\u2019ve gotta get immigration in check. Illegal should be zero. And legal should be reduced. So that American jobs go to American workers.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ac0QXXhwtg\">https:\/\/t.co\/ac0QXXhwtg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Andrew Good (@Drewbueno) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Drewbueno\/status\/1488310422675595267?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 1, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The pro-Democratic <em>Dallas Morning News<\/em> tried to shrink Abbott\u2019s support in the poll by spotlighting the costs of his pro-enforcement policies.<\/p>\n<p>For example, Abbott is spending much money building a high fence along stretches of the border. So the pollster asked respondents: \u201cDo you agree or disagree that a wall along the Texas-Mexico border is necessary for a safe border.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The wall was supported by 48 percent of the respondents, including 35 percent of Latinos, 28 percent of blacks, and 59 percent of whites.<\/p>\n<p>The newspaper\u2019s push-poll also asked respondents to choose two popular options as if the Texas government cannot do both: \u201cAs a public policy issue for this year, should it be a higher priority to strengthen the electricity grid or security the Texas-Mexico border.\u201d The result was 41 percent for the border 50 percent for the grid.<\/p>\n<p>The editors headline the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/politics\/2022\/01\/31\/abbott-support-remains-solid-on-border-issues-but-costs-of-wall-arent-popular-says-new-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article<\/a>: \u201cAbbott support remains solid on border issues, but costs of the weren\u2019t popular, says a new poll.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Many newspaper polls try to show strong public support for migration, so they rarely ask respondents to consider the economic costs of migration. For example, the poll could have asked: Should the state government work harder to exclude illegal migrants from the jobs needed by young Americans?<\/p>\n<p>A wide&nbsp;variety&nbsp;of little-publicized&nbsp;polls&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/08\/05\/poll-swing-voters-hugely-oppose-2020-democrats-promising-more-immigration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">show<\/a>&nbsp;deep and broad&nbsp;opposition&nbsp;to labor migration.
