Richard \u201cDick\u201d Toliver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/news\/features\/vietnam-veteran-takes-flight-in-ww2-aircraft\/article_8b82525e-816d-11ec-b02d-238becfec60a.html\">touched<\/a> the sky while sitting inside the \u201cAmazing Grace\u201d plane, according to AZFamily.com.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>He is known as a \u201cTop Gun\u201d fighter pilot and also a protege of the famous Tuskegee Airmen. The veteran retired from the Air Force following 26 years of serving his country, which included tours in Southeast Asia, and he also took part in more than 400 combat missions.<\/p>\n<p>Toliver explained nothing on earth came close to the feeling of being up in the air.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe moment of exhilaration takes place, and it\u2019s like the initial takeoff. Then you go around, and you\u2019ve flown, and you do that final touchdown, and you do it well,\u201d he commented.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>He always knew he wanted to join the Air Force and eventually became the first of five black pilots to fly the F-4 jet. He also penned multiple books about his military service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2005, Toliver helped create the Archer-Ragsdale Arizona Chapter of Tuskegee Airman Inc. in Phoenix, where he was the founding president. In 2007, Toliver helped lead a petition to Congress to award 300 surviving Tuskegee Airmen the Congressional Gold Medal,\u201d the AZFamily.com report said.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the generosity of an organization <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/GroundedNoMore\/posts\/3118093211796172\/\">called<\/a> Grounded No More, Toliver reached the skies yet again.<\/p>\n<p>Video footage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/tbone.anger\/videos\/1128607831268940\">showed<\/a> the view from inside the aircraft:<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-video\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/tbone.anger\/videos\/1128607831268940\" data-width=\"640\">\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/GroundedNoMore\/permalink\/3117942465144580\/\" class=\"fb-xfbml-parse-ignore\">\n<p>Our special guest today was Col.
