Nicola Coughlan addressed the ongoing issue by snapping a photo of herself and captioning it with a message for would-be body shamers and critics, who she says are constantly reaching out to her with their opinions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHello! So just a thing- if you have an opinion about my body please, please don\u2019t share it with me,\u201d the Irish actress wrote in the photo caption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost people are being nice and not trying to be offensive but I am just one real life human being and it\u2019s really hard to take the weight of thousands of opinions on how you look being sent directly to you every day,\u201d she continued.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you have an opinion about me that\u2019s ok, I understand I\u2019m on TV and that people will have things to think and say but I beg you not to send it to me directly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t the first time the 35-year-old star spoke on the topic. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/01\/31\/entertainment\/nicola-coughlan-bridgerton-body-shaming\/index.html\">CNN<\/a>, last year she had a scathing reply for a Twitter user who wrote, \u201cThe fat girl from Bridgerton is wearing a black cardigan at the Golden Globes.\u201d This observation prompted Coughlan to share an older piece she had published in The Guardian called \u201cCritics, judge me for my work in Derry Girls and on the stage, not on my body.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She tweeted a thread along with the post which said: \u201cAlso can we please stop asking women about their weight in interviews, especially when it\u2019s completely irrelevant. I\u2019m seeing a lot of interviews from 10 years ago where people go \u201cOh weren\u2019t the questions so inappropriate!\u201d unfortunately it\u2019s still happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She continued, \u201cEvery time I\u2019m asked about my body in an interview it makes me deeply uncomfortable and so sad I\u2019m not just allowed to just talk about the job I do that I so love.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Coughlan\u2019s comments were publicized around the same time as a fellow Hollywood actress, \u201cYellowjackets\u201d actress Melanie Lynskey. Last week, Lynskey said the body shamers have been out in force, which ultimately prompted her co-stars to stand up for her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost egregious are the \u2018I care about her health!!\u2019 people\u2026 B****, you don\u2019t see me on my Peloton! You don\u2019t see me running through the park with my child. Skinny does not always equal healthy,\u201d Lynskey said in a tweet.<\/p>\n<p>Next, she addressed fans of the show who claimed it wasn\u2019t realistic that she had an on-screen relationship with an attractive co-star. Lynskey shared, \u201cI\u2019m just like, \u2018Wow, really? That\u2019s where people\u2019s heads are at, that the most important thing is being thin or young?&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lynskey has addressed body shamers before, telling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/tv\/tv-features\/yellowjackets-melanie-lynskey-interview-1284100\/\">Rolling Stone<\/a> that even a member of the \u201cYellowjackets\u201d production team made a derogatory comment about her physique.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were asking me, \u2018What do you plan to do? I\u2019m sure the producers will get you a trainer.
