Swaner explained:<\/p>\n<p>CCS has partnered with churches to do microschools, worked with the local community to do watershed projects on its own land and partnered with community-based organizations to provide inclusion services for students with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>The press statement particularly noted the move to expand Christian schools in urban areas.<\/p>\n<p>Joel Gaines, who heads The City School in Philadelphia, said educators at his school have a \u201ccommitment to providing quality Christian urban education.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe students who learn within urban spaces are some of the most socially prepared, culturally exposed, and life-ready individuals,\u201d Gaines added.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Converge 2022 will also address how social and family changes, as well as the impact of the coronavirus, have affected learning. Focal topics at the conference will include how to embrace students from broken families or those struggling in their schoolwork.<\/p>\n<p>Two conference sessions to be offered are \u201cWhy Character Creates the Future,\u201d and \u201cEngaging Gen Z: The Bible, Jesus, and Teens Around the World.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The conference is announced amid the decision by many American families to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/education\/2022\/01\/03\/2022-public-schools-continue-to-shed-students-as-homeschooling-surges\/\">reassess<\/a> their children\u2019s learning environments, with more opting to remove them from government-run schools in favor of homeschooling, microschooling, faith-based schools, and other private education venues.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Public schools continue to shed students as more parents opt for other alternatives, including homeschooling. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jeCT2gVWB5\">https:\/\/t.co\/jeCT2gVWB5<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1478062247645753345?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 3, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In December, NPR&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/12\/15\/1062999168\/school-enrollment-drops-for-second-straight-year\">described<\/a>&nbsp;as \u201ctroubling\u201d the fact that public school districts are shedding students:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We compiled the latest headcount data directly from more than 600 districts in 23 states and Washington, D.C., including statewide data from Massachusetts, Georgia and Alabama. We found that very few districts, especially larger ones, have returned to pre-pandemic numbers. Most are now posting a second straight year of declines.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Chicago schools chief Pedro Martinez said, reported NPR:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>When I talk to my colleagues \u2026 across the country, there\u2019s a lot of concern right now. Pre-pandemic, we were already seeing enrollment decline. So it wasn\u2019t that we had stability. That statistic represents a significant jump from the 5.4 percent who began homeschooling when schools closed throughout the country in the spring of 2020, and from the 3.3 percent who&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nces.ed.gov\/pubs2016\/2016096rev.pdf\">homeschooled<\/a>&nbsp;prior to the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Of particular note in the Census Bureau data is that homeschooling is surging among black families.
