Raskin, the former deputy secretary of the Treasury Department during the Obama administration, has taken particular aim at addressing climate change through aggressive financial policies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs State Treasurers, Auditors, and financial officers, we write to express our strong disapproval of Sarah Bloom Raskin as your choice for Vice-Chair for Supervision at the Federal Reserve Bank. We urge you to withdraw her nomination,\u201d the letter stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe, the undersigned, oppose Ms. Raskin\u2019s radical banking and economic views and are deeply concerned that she would use the supervisory authority as Vice-Chair for Supervision at the Federal Reserve Bank to disrupt the private banking sector, reliable energy supplies, and the U.S. economy,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<p>Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/01\/14\/president-biden-nominates-sarah-bloom-raskin-to-serve-as-vice-chair-for-supervision-of-the-federal-reserve-and-lisa-cook-and-philip-jefferson-to-serve-as-governors\/\">nominated<\/a> Raskin for vice chair for supervision of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System on Jan. 14. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/27\/chamber-of-commerce-signals-opposition-to-latest-biden-nominee-sarah-bloom-raskin\/\">(RELATED: Chamber Of Commerce Signals Opposition To Latest Biden Fed Nominee Sarah Bloom Raskin)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Raskin has previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceres.org\/resources\/reports\/addressing-climate-systemic-risk\">advocated<\/a> for allocating capital and portfolios towards \u201csustainable investments\u201d and away from fossil fuel projects, the letter noted. Both Banking Committee <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/25\/republican-sen-toomey-criticizes-biden-fed-nominees-lack-of-experience\/\">Ranking Member Pat Toomey<\/a> and Energy Committee Ranking Member John Barrasso have announced their opposition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMs. Raskin is the wrong choice at any time, but especially now when American families already are suffering from the hardship of policy-induced high energy prices,\u201d Barrasso <a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.senate.gov\/services\/files\/A82398B4-C78D-42D5-9B58-D2EE6B34E8E5\">wrote<\/a> in a letter Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Financial officials from Nebraska, Arkansas, Missouri, Utah, Louisiana, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming signed the letter on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Raskin is set to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.banking.senate.gov\/hearings\/01\/25\/2022\/nomination-hearing\">appear<\/a> before the Senate Banking Committee on Feb. 3 for her confirmation hearing.<\/p>\n<p>The White House didn\u2019t immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
