The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) website explains dental care is generally not covered by Medicare.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A Facebook video with over 1 million views claims Biden announced he would be expanding Medicare to include dental care. The post features a clip of a speech from the president alongside a video simulation of a dental operation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBiden announces Medicare stimulus that provides free dental work to all Seniors who need it!\u201d reads the video\u2019s caption. \u201cCrowns and implants included.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/02\/26\/fact-check-joe-biden-n-word-speech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did Joe Biden Say The N-Word During A Recent Speech?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is no evidence that Biden made such an announcement.&nbsp;A search of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/?s=dental+care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">White House website<\/a> turned up no results regarding any announcements about an expansion of Medicare to include dental work. There is likewise no mention of such a plan on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cms.gov\/newsroom\/search?search=Dental&amp;search_api_language=en&amp;field_date%5Bmin%5D=&amp;field_date%5Bmax%5D=&amp;sort_by=field_date&amp;sort_order=DESC&amp;items_per_page=10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CMS<\/a> website or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicare.gov\/search\/medicare?keys=Dental\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Medicare website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The clip of Biden featured in the post, in which he says in part, \u201cSo here\u2019s the bottom line. My plan lowers healthcare costs, gets us universal coverage quickly, when Americans desperately need it, now,\u201d is from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?473396-1\/joe-biden-calls-president-trumps-affordable-care-act-lawsuit-cruel-heartless-callous#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">June 2020<\/a> stop he made in Lancaster, Pennsylvania while campaigning for the presidency. While Biden discussed health care issues in the speech, he made no mention of dental care, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rev.com\/blog\/transcripts\/joe-biden-speech-treanscript-on-health-care-affordable-care-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">transcripts<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?473396-1\/joe-biden-calls-president-trumps-affordable-care-act-lawsuit-cruel-heartless-callous#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">available<\/a> online. His entire remarks are available on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?473396-1\/joe-biden-calls-president-trumps-affordable-care-act-lawsuit-cruel-heartless-callous#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">C-SPAN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The CMS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cms.gov\/Medicare\/Coverage\/MedicareDentalCoverage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a> explains that by law Medicare only covers dental procedures that are \u201can integral part either of a covered procedure (e.g., reconstruction of the jaw following accidental injury), or for extractions done in preparation for radiation treatment for neoplastic diseases involving the jaw.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other dental services, including routine checkups, cleanings, fillings, dentures and tooth extractions, are not typically covered, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicareinteractive.org\/get-answers\/medicare-covered-services\/limited-medicare-coverage-vision-and-dental\/medicare-and-dental-care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Medicare Interactive<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicareinteractive.org\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a> dedicated to helping people navigate Medicare.
