Sources confirmed to CNN that the company will now be \u201cadding a content advisory to any podcast episode that includes discussion about Covid-19\u201d by directing listeners to a \u201chub that will include links to trusted sources.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThese are rules of the road to guide all of our creators \u2014 from those we work with exclusively to those whose work is shared across multiple platforms,\u201d Ek said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s become clear to me that we have an obligation to do more to provide balance and access to widely-accepted information from the medical and scientific communities guiding us through this unprecedented time,\u201d Ek continued.<\/p>\n<p>Spotify\u2019s decision comes after Neil Young\u2019s music was removed from the platform in protest of Joe Rogan.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_19612842\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/neilyoungjoerogan1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19612842\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/neilyoungjoerogan1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Neil Young, Joe Rogan (Larry Busacca; Stacy Revere\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines \u2013 potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2022\/01\/24\/rocker-neil-young-demands-spotify-either-remove-his-music-or-blacklist-joe-rogan\/\">wrote<\/a>. \u201cPlease act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform,\u201d he continued. \u201cThey can have Rogan or Young. Not both.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shortly thereafter, Nils Lofgren, formerly of Bruce Springsteen\u2019s E Street Band and Crazy Horse, announced he would be removing his music from the platform.&nbsp;Bren\u00e8 Brown of <em>Unlocking Us<\/em> and <em>Dare to Lead<\/em> also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreneBrown\/status\/1487535996782710786\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted<\/a>&nbsp;on Saturday that she will not be releasing podcasts for the time being.<\/p>\n<p>This weekend, a&nbsp;spokesperson for Archewell, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle\u2019s foundation,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/01\/30\/entertainment\/harry-meghan-spotify-misinformation-intl-gbr\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> the couple&nbsp;has looked to Spotify to combat misinformation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look to Spotify to meet this moment and are committed to continuing our work together as it does,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>According to TheWrap, Spotify shares <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/spotify-loses-2-billion-stock-neil-young-joe-rogan\/\">dropped<\/a> 12 percent since last week, a market value of $2 billion, though it should be noted that Spotify\u2019s shares have been steadily dropping for several months and may not be correlated with Neil Young\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month,&nbsp;270 doctors, professors, and physicians signed an&nbsp;open letter <a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/spotifyopenletter.wordpress.com\/2022\/01\/10\/an-open-letter-to-spotify\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">demanding<\/a> that Spotify boot Joe Rogan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy allowing the propagation of false and societally harmful assertions, Spotify is enabling its hosted media to damage public trust in scientific research and sow doubt in the credibility of data-driven guidance offered by medical professionals,\u201d the letter read.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spotify announced on Sunday it will add \u201ccontent advisory\u201d over coronavirus misinformation in the face of protests against podcaster Joe Rogan.
