Notably, Trump was banned from the platform on Jan. 8, which meant he was unable to post for nearly two weeks while serving in the White House.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued concerning Trump\u2019s ban, Twitter said they made the move \u201cdue&nbsp;to the risk of further incitement of violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them \u2014 specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter \u2014 we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,\u201d the announcement said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/twitter-permanently-bans-trump-from-platform?%3Futm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=dwtwitter\">The Daily Wire<\/a> reported. \u201cIn the context of horrific events this week, we made it clear on Wednesday that additional violations of the Twitter Rules would potentially result in this very course of action. Our&nbsp;public interest framework exists to enable the public to hear from elected officials and world leaders directly. It is built on a principle that the people have a right to hold power to account in the open.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, we made it clear going back years that these accounts are not above our rules entirely and cannot use Twitter to incite violence, among other things,\u201d the statement from Twitter added. \u201cWe will continue to be transparent around our policies and their enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As the move came to ban Trump, Twitter reportedly&nbsp;permanently banned thousands of accounts \u201ctied to the Qanon movement,\u201d CNBC noted.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Tech platform reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/twitter-permanently-bans-james-okeefes-project-veritas\">permanently banned<\/a> the account of the James O\u2019Keefe-founded undercover journalist group Project Veritas on Thursday for allegedly sharing \u201cprivate information\u201d without consent.<\/p>\n<p>James O\u2019Keefe later said in a video that Twitter highlighted the apparently rule-violating post from Project Veritas as a video showing the Facebook Vice President of Integrity Guy Rosen being questioned outside his home.<br \/>\u201cThe tweet in question arose when asking for comment from Facebook\u2019s VP of Integrity about censorship,\u201d the group said from their Telegram channel. \u201cProject Veritas is appealing this decision, as no privacy was violated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwitter also confirmed that O\u2019Keefe\u2019s personal account had been locked temporarily for violating the same policy, and that O\u2019Keefe would be required to remove the violative content before regaining permission to tweet,\u201d CNN Business <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/02\/11\/tech\/twitter-project-veritas\/index.html\">reported<\/a> Thursday. \u201cIn an emailed statement to CNN Business, O\u2019Keefe again said it was \u2018false\u2019 that the video contained private information and claimed Twitter told the group it could have its account reinstated if it deleted the tweet containing the video.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CNN Business followed-up with Twitter about O\u2019Keefe\u2019s claim that he was told the account could potentially be reinstated.
