While the official readouts from both Washington and Kyiv depicted the call as productive and friendly, a CNN report based on anonymous sources described the call as frustrating and tedious, featuring harried warnings from Biden that Kyiv would be \u201csacked\u201d and exasperated requests from Zelensky for the president to \u201ccalm down.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Both the White House and the Ukrainian president\u2019s office have rejected the CNN report, and Zelensky himself, during the press conference, repeatedly expressed gratitude to Biden without addressing the acute challenges the CNN report claimed exist in the relationship.<\/p>\n<p>Zelensky did tell reporters that he spent much of the call emphasizing to Biden that telling the world that Russia would imminently invade Ukraine \u2013 something Kyiv has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/25\/ukraine-says-destabilization-fueled-by-biden-admin-hysteria-not-russia\/\">repeatedly<\/a> stated there is little material evidence to believe \u2013 could lead to economic devastation in the country that would, in turn, increase the probability of a full-fledged Russian assault.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mentioned this to President Biden \u2026 we need to stabilize the economy of our country because of those signals which say that tomorrow there will be war,\u201d Zelensky said, \u201cbecause these signals were sent by even leaders of the respected countries, sometimes they are not even using diplomatic language! They are saying, \u2018Tomorrow is the war.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis means panic on the market, panic in the financial sector \u2026 how much does it cost to our country?\u201d Zelensky asked.<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>The president then put a price tag on global fears of war in his country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have the record-breaking GDP in 2021, record-breaking number. We have the growth in a short period of time,\u201d Zelensky explained, \u201cbut after, I think, the beginning of this informational coverage, after this change in the informational coverage, 12 and a half billion worth of investments were taken out of Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The BBC\u2019s Ukrainian coverage of the press conference <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/ukrainian\/news-60171082?xtor=AL-73-%5Bpartner%5D-%5Bmeta.ua%5D-%5Bheadline%5D-%5Bukrainian%5D-%5Bbizdev%5D-%5Bisapi%5D&amp;at_campaign=64&amp;at_custom4=D5159FEC-8051-11EC-9882-0BBC4744363C&amp;at_custom1=%5Bpost+type%5D&amp;at_medium=custom7&amp;at_custom2=twitter&amp;at_custom3=BBC+UA\">reported<\/a> that Zelensky meant 12.5 billion hryvnia. The president lamented that the country had to use up part of its gold reserves to stabilize the currency, which he said had reached its highest level in a decade.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s [a] very expensive price to pay for Ukraine,\u201d Zelensky lamented.<\/p>\n<p>The president also complained that the coverage is not based on reality \u2013 particularly concerns for Kyiv, triggered by Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/national-security\/2022\/01\/24\/biden-undermines-zelensky-ukraine-with-partial-embassy-pullout\/\">pulling<\/a> the family of U.S. embassy staffers out of the capital \u2013 and urged reporters to visit and report from the ground.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve talked to the president [Biden], we think that there has to be a balanced approach,\u201d Zelensky said. \u201cI am not saying that he is influencing American media, they are independent, but the media policy \u2013&nbsp;there has to be balance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf they want to know what the situation is, they can come to Kyiv. Do we have tanks on the street? (Photo by STR\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think the situation is more intense than it was at that time, at peak time in 2021,\u201d Zelensky said. \u201cThere was no such coverage at that time of Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zelensky also asserted that the threat of a full Russian invasion was \u201cconstant\u201d but that the escalation that the West fears by Moscow \u201calready happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been talking about this for eight years now,\u201d he lamented, referring to the invasion of Ukraine by Russia in 2014 that resulted in the colonization of Crimea.<\/p>\n<p>Zelensky fielded a question from a reporter asking if he was lying about the allegedly imminent Russian threat to preserve his country\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is very strange that I am being suspected of something. I think, in my life, I haven\u2019t done anything to be suspected of things. I think you mistake me for another president of Ukraine,\u201d Zelensky answered. \u201cI think first should come the human being, then comes the economy.
