Ron DeSantis said President Joe Biden\u2019s future Supreme Court nominee should \u201cbe faithful to the law and the Constitution\u201d at a Friday press conference in Broward County.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you\u2019re dealing with picks for the Supreme Court, you want people who are going to be faithful to the law and the Constitution, and understand how our constitutional system was designed to have separate powers,\u201d DeSantis <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/491047-scotus-desantis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">began<\/a>. \u201cThe job of the judicial branch is to apply the law and Constitution. It\u2019s not to rewrite the law and Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJudges who understand that \u2026 have a certain amount of humility to understand the proper role. Doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t be active in deciding cases properly before you, and if you have to come down on the constitutional side, you have to do it and do it forcefully,\u201d the governor continued. \u201cBut you\u2019re not a philosopher-king. And you\u2019re not hovering over the entire political system and basically being a super-legislator.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Gov. During his presidential campaign, the president vowed to nominate a black woman to fill a vacated seat. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/26\/laurence-tribe-biden-harris-supreme-court-breyer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Top Biden Legal Ally Says Kamala Harris Can\u2019t Break A Tie For Biden\u2019s SCOTUS Nominee)&nbsp;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The president said <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2016\/02\/22\/in-1992-joe-biden-was-against-supreme-court-nomination-during-full-throes-of-an-election-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">nominating<\/a> the first black woman to the Court is \u201clong overdue,\u201d the Associated Press <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/voting-rights-stephen-breyer-joe-biden-us-supreme-court-race-and-ethnicity-8dd8cdc06986f97cc87961b7bce4f36a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>. The decision is expected to be made at the end of February.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve made no decisions except one: The person I will nominate will be somebody of extraordinary qualifications, character and integrity,\u201d the president said. \u201cAnd that person will be the first Black woman ever nominated to the United States Supreme Court. It\u2019s long overdue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The three most likely considered <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/26\/joe-biden-supreme-court-nominee-black-woman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">candidates<\/a> are Judge Kentanji Brown Jackson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, California Supreme Court associate justice Leondra Kruger, and Judge J.
