But one powerful member of America\u2019s elite is notable for&nbsp;<em>not<\/em> being owned by China: George Soros.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>In fact, to the extent Soros appears in Schweizer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Red-Handed-American-Elites-Helping-China\/dp\/0063061147\/?tag=breitbart035-20\">book<\/a>, it is as one of the good guys, telling the truth about the threat China poses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLongtime global investor George Soros has called out [investment management company] BlackRock&nbsp;for its financial efforts in China, declaring that it is on the \u2018wrong side\u2019 of the struggle between Beijing and the West, and noted that BlackRock\u2019s efforts \u2018will damage the national security interests of the U.S. and other democracies,&#8217;\u201d Schweizer notes.<\/p>\n<p>Soros has been calling out China for years. In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/10\/25\/business\/dealbook\/george-soros-interview.html\">interview<\/a> with the&nbsp;<em>New York Times<\/em> in 2019, Soros warned that China is a \u201cmortal enemy,\u201d and \u201cthe worst threat to an open society.\u201d He added: \u201cWe should recognize it: It\u2019s a different system. It\u2019s totally opposed to ours, diametrically opposed to ours.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Soros earned a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/davos-meeting-china-soros-idINL3N1ZP3CU\">rebuke<\/a> from China: \u201cWe hope the relevant American can correct his attitude, not be shortsighted, and hold an objective, rational and correct opinion of China\u2019s development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet Soros kept going. Last year, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/blackrock-larry-fink-china-hkex-sse-authoritarianism-xi-jinping-term-limits-human-rights-ant-didi-global-national-security-11630938728\">wrote<\/a> in the&nbsp;<em>Wall Street Journal<\/em>&nbsp;that BlackRock\u2019s investment in China \u201cimperils the national security interests of the U.S. and other democracies because the money invested in China will help prop up President Xi\u2019s regime, which is repressive at home and aggressive abroad. Congress should pass legislation empowering the Securities and Exchange Commission to limit the flow of funds to China. The effort ought to enjoy bipartisan support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps Soros\u2019s anti-China stance is one of the reasons Democrats have discovered new enthusiasm for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/01\/26\/us\/politics\/democrats-china-competitiveness-bill.html\">legislation<\/a> that would create a U.S. industrial policy to compete with China. But Republicans have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/24\/house-democrats-push-weak-anti-china-bill-bidens-agenda-stalls\/\">argued<\/a> that the Democrats\u2019 bill lacks adequate safeguards for U.S. technology, and spends billions on extraneous left-wing priorities.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, as Schweizer points out, Democrats are swimming in Chinese cash, from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/23\/schweizer-biden-family-have-received-31-million-from-individuals-linked-to-chinese-intelligence\/\">Biden family<\/a> on down, and pro-China lobbyists are still earning millions.<\/p>\n<p>It is time for Soros to put up or shut up. If he is serious about taking on the Chinese threat, he should take some of the billions that he spends on left-wing groups and start supporting groups that will actually take on the Chinese regime instead.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>As it stands, Soros is undermining America\u2019s ability to stand up to China. He is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/crime\/2022\/01\/20\/the-soros-dozen-big-city-prosecutors-backed-by-george-soros\/\">spending<\/a> millions of dollars on left-wing prosecutors who let criminals out of jail, for example, and making our major cities uninhabitable, much to China\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/national-security\/2021\/03\/18\/china-rebukes-bidens-foreign-policy-team-cites-black-lives-matter-on-u-s-human-rights-abuses\/\">delight<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Soros is good at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bnaibrith.ca\/jewish_billionaire_george_soros_funds_groups_that_support_boycotts_of_israel\/\">backing<\/a> radical organizations that support boycotts of Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East, whose current government includes an Arab Islamic party.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of demonizing Israel, he should fund organizations that boycott communist China, which is carrying out an actual genocide of Muslims, one whose internment camps recall the Holocaust in Europe, which Soros survived as a boy. He should also cut funding to pro-China politicians, organizations, and universities.<\/p>\n<p>But Soros isn\u2019t doing any of that. Instead, he\u2019s just writing op-eds and going after BlackRock \u2014 a competitor in the investing space. Rather than providing principled opposition to the Chinese Communist Party, it looks like Soros is looking after his own financial interests, perhaps hoping to cut a more lucrative deal with the regime.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe, instead of destabilizing America and other Western countries, Soros should try destabilizing China for a change. For now, he remains part of the problem.<\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
