But there is now a 30-point gap in confidence between Democrats and Republicans, up from a 9-point gap in 2018. In 2021, 64% of Democrats have a great deal of confidence in the scientific community, whereas only 34% of Republicans say the same.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In 2006, Republicans had more trust in science than Democrats, according to the AP\/NORC chart:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/img-0-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19661450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/img-0-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"828\" height=\"554\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>A January 18 <a href=\"https:\/\/carnegieendowment.org\/2022\/01\/18\/what-happens-when-democracies-become-perniciously-polarized-pub-86190\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> by Carnegie Endowment for International Peace said the United States is a \u201cperniciously polarized\u201d democracy. \u201cThere are no peer analogues for the United States\u2019 current political divisions,\u201d the report said as it admitted the polarization is spurred by rising identity politics amid accelerating immigration and diversity:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n[There are] a number of features that make the United States both especially susceptible to polarization and especially impervious to efforts to reduce it. One such feature is <strong>the durability of identity politics in a racially and ethnically diverse democracy<\/strong> \u2026&nbsp; the United States is perhaps <strong>alone in experiencing a demographic shift that poses a threat to the white population that has historically been the dominant group<\/strong> in all arenas of power, allowing political leaders to exploit insecurities surrounding this loss of status.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The deepening political split was spotlighted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/01\/26\/opinion\/covid-biden-trump-polarization.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Thomas Edsall<\/a>, a liberal columnist at the <em>New York Times<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>But Edsall, like many other establishment commentators, is unable to mention immigration and the imposed diversity as the cause, and he instead tried to blame the polarization on downstream factors caused by immigration.&nbsp;For example, Edsall suggested that the polarization can be overcome by papering over the expanding civic and economic diversity with taxpayer subsidies:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Two related studies \u2014 \u201c<a class=\"css-1g7m0tk\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/pdf\/2103.14619.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Inequality, Identity and Partisanship: How Redistribution Can Stem the Tide of Mass Polarization<\/a>\u201d by&nbsp;<a class=\"css-1g7m0tk\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/risweb.st-andrews.ac.uk\/portal\/en\/persons\/alexander-j-stewart(de795426-9622-4008-b411-c34b30454893).html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alexander J. Stewart<\/a>,&nbsp;<a class=\"css-1g7m0tk\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bio.upenn.edu\/people\/joshua-plotkin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joshua B. Plotkin<\/a>&nbsp;and McCarty and \u201c<a class=\"css-1g7m0tk\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.science.org\/doi\/pdf\/10.1126\/sciadv.abd4201\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Polarization Under Rising Inequality and Economic Decline<\/a>\u201d by Stewart, McCarty and&nbsp;<a class=\"css-1g7m0tk\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.joannajbryson.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joanna Bryson<\/a>&nbsp;\u2014 argue that aggressive redistribution policies designed to lessen inequality must be initiated before polarization becomes further entrenched. The fear is that polarization now runs so deep in the United States that we can\u2019t do the things that would help us be less polarized.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But Edsall admits that the money will not work if the underlying polarization has gone too far: \u201cA deeply polarized electorate is highly unlikely to support redistribution that would benefit their adversaries as well as themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That inability to recognize the importance of migration leaves Edsall with a pessimistic conclusion: \u201cThe electorate as a whole is moving farther and farther apart into two mutually loathing camps \u2026 Looking over the contemporary political landscape, there appear to be no major or effective movements to counter polarization.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>This dour claim ignores the polarizing diversity that is deliberately caused by the government\u2019s pro-elite economic policy of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tag\/extraction-migration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">extraction migration<\/a> \u2014 and the plentiful evidence that civic solidarity and overall prosperity will return once the migration is reduced.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Democrat Party claims to &#8220;diversity&#8221; are a total joke. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/lWZEi8yZch\">https:\/\/t.co\/lWZEi8yZch<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1235927624377040896?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 6, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The evidence can be found in many polls which show that Americans want immigration policy to help Americans \u2014 not corporations, investors, foreigners, and special interest groups.<\/p>\n<p>The polls&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/08\/05\/poll-swing-voters-hugely-oppose-2020-democrats-promising-more-immigration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">show<\/a>&nbsp;deep and broad&nbsp;opposition&nbsp;to labor migration into the jobs sought by American workers. The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2021\/03\/05\/survey-americans-underestimate-quiet-public-opposition-to-legal-migration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">opposition<\/a>&nbsp;is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2021\/12\/16\/pro-migration-groups-accelerate-hate-campaign-against-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">growing<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/12\/10\/only-41-percent-voters-trust-republicans-immigration-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anti-establishment<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2020\/04\/29\/washington-post-poll-hispanics-are-the-strongest-opponents-of-immigration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">multiracial<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2020\/07\/11\/poll-suburban-women-strongly-back-donald-trumps-migration-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cross-sex<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/09\/24\/survey-hispanic-americans-most-opposed-to-illegal-immigration-defunding-police\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">non-racist<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2018\/04\/27\/study-black-working-class-opposes-mass-migration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">class-based<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/02\/22\/poll-democrat-sex-split-visa-workers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bipartisan<\/a>,&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USTechWorkers\/status\/1377363222005575680?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rational<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2021\/05\/11\/harvard-poll-swing-voters-want-biden-to-embrace-trumps-border-goals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">persistent<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/01\/22\/rasmussen-poll-liberals-and-wealthy-welcome-caravan-migrants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recognizes<\/a>&nbsp;the solidarity that Americans owe to each other.<\/p>\n<p>Edsall, however, has the decency to admit that the current polarization is also driven by contempt among the elite for ordinary Americans: He quotes one researcher who declared that \u201cPeople high in cognitive ability are prejudiced against more conservative and conventional groups \u2026 [and] people low in cognitive ability are prejudiced against more liberal and unconventional groups.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Many progressives are hostile to ordinary Americans and wish to degrade their political status, civic authority, and economic clout. For example, Sherrilyn Ifill, the president of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, suggested January 27 that ordinary Americans are so robot-like that they can be persuaded to participate in another genocide against Jews:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cMonsters exist, but they are too few in number to be truly dangerous. More dangerous are the common men, the functionaries ready to believe and to act without asking questions.\u201d \u2013 Primo Levi<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/HolocaustRemembranceDay?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#HolocaustRemembranceDay<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sherrilyn Ifill (@Sifill_LDF) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Sifill_LDF\/status\/1486796477875859458?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 27, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Similarly, the <em>New York Times<\/em> now insists that Americans are wrong to believe that society should shape civic rules around the reality that men and women, girls and boys, are biologically complementary. Instead, the newspaper insists that Americans must believe that sexual identity is determined by \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/health\/2022\/01\/15\/nytimes-gender-entirely-overrides-humans-male-or-female-sex\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gender identity<\/a>,\u201d not biology.<\/p>\n<p>Many progressives dismiss <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2021\/12\/16\/pro-migration-groups-accelerate-hate-campaign-against-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">popular and mainstream support for curbs<\/a> on migration as similar to unforgivable racism. Curbing immigration \u201cis just a white nationalist argument that America should be for white people, and everybody else is somehow subpar and doesn\u2019t belong,\u201d said&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/OoIGOYX6Z2g?t=483\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">Heidi Beirich<\/a>, who named her activist group, The Global Project Against Hate and Extremism. \u201cThey\u2019re absolutely both bald-faced racist and eugenicist,\u201d responded Hassan Ahmad, an immigration lawyer during their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2021\/12\/16\/pro-migration-groups-accelerate-hate-campaign-against-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">December conversation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cwoke\u201d progressives growing hostility was described by a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/politics\/2021\/11\/09\/progressive-left\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> from the Pew Research Center in November 2021:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>A large majority of Progressive Left (86%) say that people who have immigrated to the United States illegally generally make the communities they live in better. They also are more supportive than other political typology groups of increasing the number of&nbsp;<em>legal&nbsp;<\/em>immigrants coming to the U.S. Progressive Left also are particularly likely to say that greater social acceptance of people who are transgender is a good thing for the U.S. \u2013 88% say this, including 75% who say this has been very good for the country.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>NPR reported in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2019\/10\/01\/763383478\/how-white-liberals-became-woke-radically-changing-their-outlook-on-race\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2019<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Beginning around 2012, polls show an increasing number of white liberals began adopting more progressive positions on a range of cultural issues. These days, white Democrats (and, in particular, white liberals) are more likely than in decades past to support more liberal immigration policies, embrace racial diversity and uphold affirmative action.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/img-1-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19661458\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/img-1-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"999\" height=\"377\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Zach Goldberg, a researcher at the Center for the Study of Partisanship and Ideology, uses broad national surveys to show progressives\u2019 growing hatred of conservatives and their ideas. The results are displayed on his Twitter account.
