It advocates for a liberal policy agenda, particularly for the expansion of the Affordable Care Act. The organization<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedway.org\/our-partners\/\"><span>partners<\/span><\/a> <span>with large companies such as Pepsi and Starbucks, as well as several NFL teams.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The organization has 1,800 affiliate chapters across 40 different countries. In Illinois, the statewide chapter offers the same<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/unitedwayillinois.org\/equity-challenge\/\"><span>21-week program<\/span><\/a> <span>aimed at Illinois residents who want \u201cto engage in racial equity conversations to gain a deeper understanding about the impact [of] systemic racism.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Iowa\u2019s United Way chapter offers a shorter,<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedwaydm.org\/equity-challenge\"><span>21-day<\/span><\/a> <span>version of the challenge. According to the chapter website, each weekday has a different topic ranging from \u201cunderstanding systemic racism\u201d to \u201callyship.\u201d Other days focus on segregation, \u201ccultural competence,\u201d Black Lives Matter, education, and the justice system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>New York\u2019s United Way chapter hosted a similar 21-<em>day<\/em> challenge in August of 2020. According to the chapter\u2019s<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedwaygcr.org\/sites\/unitedwaygcr.org\/files\/Day6_LevelsOfRacism.pdf\"><span>webpage<\/span><\/a><span>, day six of the program put a special emphasis on different kinds of racism. One graph showed the four levels of racism, which are systemic, institutional, interpersonal, and internalized. Systemic racism was described as \u201congoing racial inequalities\u201d in society and institutional racism was described as \u201cdiscriminatory policies and practices within organizations.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Following the completion of the 21-week program, participants are presented with a \u201cChallenge Certificate of Completion\u201d and are provided with action items and ways to improve equity in the community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Following the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement after the death of George Floyd, universities and nonprofits alike have committed to \u201cequity\u201d and \u201canti-racism.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the name of \u201cequity,\u201d schools, such as Loyola University in New Orleans, offered free two-week courses in areas of racial justice studies. According to<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/article?id=16711\"><span>Campus Reform<\/span><\/a><span>, students were able to take courses such as \u201cRace and Mass Incarceration,\u201d \u201cEnvironmental Justice and Equity: Case Study New Orleans,\u201d \u201cMaking the Middle Ages: Myth, Misappropriation, and Reality,\u201d \u201cSay Her Name,\u201d and others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Like Loyola, the United Way program is free to participants. However, many programs like it \u2014 particularly on college campuses \u2014 cost a small fortune.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.campusreform.org\/article?id=15575\"><span>Campus Reform<\/span><\/a><span>, at the University of Virginia, a racial equity task force released recommendations to invest nearly $1 billion of the school\u2019s money into racial equity programs for students and the community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
