Brian Kemp (R) and former Sen. David Perdue (R-GA), in the race for Georgia governor, according to a new poll released Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The poll,&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/poll.qu.edu\/poll-release?releaseid=3833\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">conducted<\/a>&nbsp;by Quinnipiac University from January 19 to 24 among 1,702 registered voters, found that in hypothetical general election matchups, Kemp leads Abrams by two points, 49 percent to 47 percent, while Perdue and Abrams are dead even at 48 percent each.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Ahead of the general election in November, however, a highly competitive primary battle is brewing between Kemp and Perdue. Among 666 likely Republican primary voters, Perdue is trailing Kemp by seven points, 36 percent to 43 percent, but the former senator has&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5atlanta.com\/news\/new-fox-5-poll-dead-heat-between-kemp-perdue-due-to-trump-endorsement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gained<\/a>&nbsp;support since the last public poll, a Fox 5 Atlanta\/InsiderAdvantage poll conducted the evening of December 6, the same day Perdue&nbsp;<a title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/06\/david-perdue-announces-run-for-georgia-governor-over-my-dead-body-will-stacey-abrams-control-our-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a>&nbsp;his bid for office.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19642930\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/GettyImages-1058497452.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19642930\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/GettyImages-1058497452.jpg\" alt=\"ATHENS, GA - NOVEMBER 06: Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp attends the Election Night event at the Classic Center on November 6, 2018 in Athens, Georgia. It also revealed that the two candidates were tied at 34 percent each when respondents were made aware that Perdue would be backed by former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, who has repeatedly attacked Kemp over the 2020 election, endorsed Perdue just one day after Perdue launched his bid for office.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_19105058\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/GettyImages-1289647397.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19105058\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/GettyImages-1289647397.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Donald Trump attends a rally in support of Sens. (Spencer Platt\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Trump\u2019s pollster Tony Fabrizio also&nbsp;<a title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/13\/exclusive-poll-trump-backed-david-perdue-takes-commanding-lead-over-georgia-gov-brian-kemp-in-primary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">conducted<\/a>&nbsp;a poll December 7\u20139, right after Perdue jumped in the race, and found Perdue in a much stronger position, narrowly beating Kemp, 47 percent to 44 percent, but then dominating the governor, 56 percent to 34 percent, when respondents were informed that Trump had endorsed Perdue.<\/p>\n<p>In the Quinnipiac poll, the third-place candidate in the primary, former state Rep. Vernon Jones, a Democrat-turned-Republican who fervently supported Trump in 2020, received ten percent support. Five percent of respondents said they were undecided on their primary choice.<\/p>\n<p>The top line results of the gubernatorial primary contest prompted heated back-and-forth between the Perdue and Kemp camps on social media Wednesday night after Kemp Communications Director Cody Hall&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CodyHallGA\/status\/1486422850475024385\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">posted<\/a>&nbsp;the Quinnipiac poll results with a comment that last month\u2019s Fabrizio poll \u2014 in which Perdue had been leading \u2014 was \u201chot garbage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perdue consultant Austin Chambers fired back that Kemp had spent more than $1 million attacking Perdue while Perdue had so far \u201cspent $0 on TV informing of Trump endorsement.\u201d That charge comes as Perdue is&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DavidPerdueGA\/status\/1479462725533245445?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">challenging<\/a>&nbsp;the ethics of a new Georgia law that grants officeholders, including Kemp, the ability to create a leadership committee that can raise unlimited campaign funds, something Perdue, as a primary candidate, is unable to do.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the absence of Perdue-Trump ads, Chambers added, \u201cLet\u2019s see what you say when that changes\u2026\u201d and cited Perdue\u2019s 14-point gain from the Fox 5 poll as evidence of Perdue\u2019s momentum.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Kemp has spent over $1mm attacking Perdue and yet Perdue has risen 14 points since last public poll.<\/p>\n<p>December Fox 5: <br \/>Kemp 41 <br \/>Perdue 22 <\/p>\n<p>Now: <br \/>Kemp 43<br \/>Perdue 36 (+14)<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve spent $0 on TV informing of Trump endorsement.
