He declined to comment further.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Psaki about the issue during the White House press briefing on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo topics,\u201d Doocy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2021\/02\/10\/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-jen-psaki-february-10-2021\/\">said<\/a>. \u201cFirst of all, what does President Biden think about the Dallas Mavericks\u2019 owner, Mark Cuban, deciding to indefinitely stop playing the national anthem before his National Basketball Association games?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I haven\u2019t spoken with the president about the decision by Mark Cuban on the Dallas Mavericks \u2014 or the, I should say, the national anthem \u2014 but I know he\u2019s incredibly proud to be an American and has great respect for the anthem and all that it represents, especially for our men and women serving in uniform around the world,\u201d Psaki responded. \u201cHe\u2019d also say that, of course, that part of the \u2014 that pride in our country means recognizing moments where we as a country haven\u2019t lived up to our highest ideals, which is often and at times what people are speaking to when they take action at sporting events. And it means respecting the right of people, granted to them in the Constitution, to peacefully protest. And as I said in response to Kristen\u2019s question, the president wants to not just open schools, he wants them to stay reopened. He wants kids to be back in school learning five days a week. He wants everybody \u2014 parents to feel safe, teachers to feel safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why he asked his Department of Education and the CDC to work together on guidelines,\u201d she added. \u201cThat\u2019s why he\u2019s put funding \u2014 proposed funding in the American Rescue Plan, because he knows that\u2019s not going to happen on its own.
