Chip Roy is currently circulating a petition urging his colleagues to oppose any government funding resolution that includes money for the enforcement of vaccine mandates. More than two dozen Republicans have already signed on to the petition, which has not yet been delivered to Republican Leaders Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell, a source familiar with the petition told the Daily Caller.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongressional Republicans cannot continue to abdicate their Article I duties in hopes the judicial branch will rule in favor of the American people,\u201d the petition reads.<\/p>\n<p>The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will no longer <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/25\/osha-pulls-private-vaccine-mandate-supreme-court-loss\/\">attempt<\/a> to enforce a rule requiring that companies with more than 100 employees implement vaccine mandates and a testing regime for individuals who do not receive the shot. The OSHA announcement leaves mandates for healthcare workers, federal contractors, and all federal employees, including military service members, still on the books. The Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/13\/supreme-court-blocks-joe-biden-vaccine-testing-rule-private-businesses-osha\/\">upheld<\/a> a mandate for healthcare workers employed by organizations that accept Medicare and Medicaid funds, while the mandate for federal employees and contractors is currently the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/21\/federal-judge-blocks-bidens-vaccine-mandate-for-federal-employees\/\">subject<\/a> of several challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Press Secretary Jen Psaki <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2022\/01\/21\/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-jen-psaki-january-21-2022\/\">said<\/a> on Jan. 21 that 98% of federal employees have either received a COVID-19 vaccine or are currently in the process of requesting an exemption. More than 98% of active soldiers in the Army were vaccinated against the virus by Dec. 16, the branch\u2019s Public Affairs Office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.army.mil\/article\/252821\/active_army_achieves_98_percent_vaccination_rate_with_less_than_one_percent_refusal_rate\">announced<\/a> at the time. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/13\/air-force-discharges-27-covid-19-vaccine-mandate\/\"><strong>(RELATED: Air Force Discharges 27 For Refusing COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">When government funding expires in February we should be 100% clear that any Senator (including <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenateGOP?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SenateGOP<\/a>) voting for funding government \u2013 is voting specifically to fund ENFORCEMENT of vax mandates against the citizens he or she represents. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/DefundVaxMandates?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#DefundVaxMandates<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/HealthcareFreedom?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#HealthcareFreedom<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/cdAcD8gXgT\">https:\/\/t.co\/cdAcD8gXgT<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Chip Roy (@chiproytx) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chiproytx\/status\/1472200551236608002?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 18, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Roy, who has <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chiproytx\/status\/1476911706219679744\">called<\/a> for Republicans to hold up major pieces of legislation over the vaccine mandates, told the Daily Caller that \u201cmost Republicans say that vaccine mandates are tyrannical and foolish.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut will they unite before government funding expires on February 18th to pledge not to fund enforcement of these mandates? Will at least 10 of the 19 GOP Senators who voted to punt last time now stand up for healthcare workers or not?\u201d he asked. \u201cWe\u2019re going to find out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Congress narrowly <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/02\/government-shutdown-averted-after-senate-passes-short-term-funding-bill\/\">avoided<\/a> a government shutdown in early December, after several Senate Republicans, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/01\/republican-objections-to-bidens-vaccine-mandate-could-force-weeklong-government-shutdown-chuck-schumer\/\">led<\/a> by Mike Lee of Utah, objected to the vaccine mandates. Lee, Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall, and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz agreed to withdraw their holds on the government funding package in exchange for a standalone vote on a rejection of the vaccine mandates. The standalone rejection <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/08\/senate-passes-measure-nullifying-vaccine-mandate-large-companies\/\">passed<\/a> in the Senate after Democratic Sens.
