The MP did however add he didn\u2019t \u201ccriticise\u201d people who reported their neighbours to the police for lockdown breaches \u2014 for offences such as having their \u201cdad over in the garden\u201d \u2014 as he believed they genuinely \u201cthought they were helping the fight against coronavirus\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Brigg and Goole MP also highlighted the negative effects of lockdown on disrupting \u201csupport systems\u201d and the negative effect it had on \u201cmental health\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Despite Percy\u2019s criticism of the restrictions, he did however state that he believes they were \u201cabsolutely necessary at the time\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Percy concluded his comments by suggesting the fine amnesty should come in at the same time all the restrictions are lifted in Britain, which is currently set for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/01\/19\/it-only-took-a-massive-scandal-johnson-announces-end-of-mask-mandate\/\">24th of March 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It Only Took A Massive Scandal: Johnson Announces End of Mask Mandate <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ON9zXv2HPt\">https:\/\/t.co\/ON9zXv2HPt<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1483814373856526337?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 19, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The National Police Chief\u2019s Council <a href=\"https:\/\/news.npcc.police.uk\/releases\/update-on-coronavirus-fpns-issued-by-police-october-2021\">reports<\/a> that in England and Wales there were a total of \u201c118,438 fixed penalty notices for breaches under the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) Regulations 2020 and subsequent amendments\u201d from when fines were introduced in 2020 and up until October 2021. The current number of fines issues will be higher, but the figures for November 2021 to January 2022 have not been released as of yet.<\/p>\n<p>Coronavirus-related fines were given to British citizens for a variety of reasons ranging from not wearing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/01\/20\/sadiq-khan-and-health-secretary-javid-stick-to-masks-despite-england-mask-mandate-scrapped\/\">masks<\/a> on public transport to attending anti-lockdown <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2020\/11\/15\/fear-is-the-currency-of-control-anti-lockdown-protests-staged-in-bristol-and-liverpool\/\">protests<\/a>, and in one case four men were fined \u00a3200 each for \u201clooking at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/01\/26\/uk-covid-cops-fine-men-looking-snow\/\">snow<\/a>\u201c.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Boris Claims \u2018Nobody Told Me\u2019 Boozy Lockdown Party Wasn\u2019t Work-Related<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DaROP7keTn\">https:\/\/t.co\/DaROP7keTn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1483484331305840645?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 18, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The government had been under increased pressure to remove the remaining coronavirus restrictions following the revelation that there had been multiple <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/01\/09\/uk-government-accused-of-having-yet-another-lockdown-party\/\">breaches<\/a> of coronavirus restrictions from senior government figures, including Prime Minister Boris Johnson, as well as other top Conservatives such as former London mayoral candidate Shaun Bailey.<\/p>\n<p>The latest scandal to emerge from Number 10 was the reporting of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/news\/wine-time-fridays-leave-british-pm-with-new-hangover\/\">Wine time Fridays<\/a>\u201d being held throughout the pandemic which was often attended by Johnson himself as well as staffers. These gatherings were allegedly prohibited under coronavirus legislation, which banned different households from socially mixing.<\/p>\n<p>As of yet the government has not received any fines from London\u2019s metropolitan police for breaking the very rules they created.<\/p>\n<p>The revelation of the repeated scandals has caused some Conservative Party MPs to turn on their leadership, with multiple Tory MPs calling for Johnson to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/01\/15\/bojo-on-the-ropes-labour-leader-tory-mps-call-on-boris-to-resign\/\">resign<\/a>.
