Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) praising an International Criminal Court decision to investigate Israel over alleged war crimes.<\/p>\n<p>Matt Duss, who <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/report-anti-israel-activist-heading-to-biden-state-dept\/\">has come under fire<\/a> for criticizing the Jewish state in terms that watchdog groups have called anti-Semitic, has not tweeted in five days. He &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/unnamed-4.png\">liked<\/a>&#8221; Omar\u2019s Monday tweet, however, urging the Biden administration to back the ICC\u2019s bid to prosecute alleged Israel war crimes\u2014an investigation that Israel and the Trump administration said is politically motivated.<\/p>\n<div class=\"posts-content__category-widget md:hidden -ml-4 -mr-4 my-8 px-4 py-6 bg-gray-100\">\n<h4 class=\"mt-0 text-red-600 font-medium font-sans uppercase\">Recent Stories in Biden Administration<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;If the U.S. doesn\u2019t support the International Criminal Court&#8217;s investigations into alleged war crimes, where should people go for recourse?&#8221; Omar <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ilhanmn\/status\/1358863224758747139\">wrote<\/a>. &#8220;When we try to block peaceful means of pursuing justice, it undermines any claims of credibility we have on human rights.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Duss\u2019s recent silence on Twitter is likely related to the renewed scrutiny he has faced after <em>Politico<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/02\/03\/bernie-sanders-senate-465755\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> earlier this month that he was leaving the Sanders team to join the State Department. The <em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em> has <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/national-security\/a-confederacy-of-dusses\/\">reported<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/national-security\/sanders-fills-ranks-with-anti-israel-advocates-tied-to-anti-semitism-scandal\/\">extensively<\/a> on Duss\u2019s ties to the anti-Israel movement and activists who promote boycotts of the Jewish state.<\/p>\n<p>The ICC on Friday decided to officially investigate what it claims are Israeli war crimes committed in the West Bank and other Palestinian territories. The Israeli government, which has long boycotted the ICC over its anti-Israel bias and lack of jurisdiction to prosecute crimes, slammed the court\u2019s decision. The Trump administration also boycotted the court and criticized its efforts to launch a probe into Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Duss&#8217;s positive views of the ICC investigation could set up a conflict with others at the State Department, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/icc-war-crimes-investigation-israel-palestine-biden-e6b4b4a3-ac37-4230-b270-658c289516b4.html\">reportedly<\/a> provided assurances to Israeli leaders the United States will help combat the probe. The Biden administration expressed initial concern over the court\u2019s decision, also citing jurisdictional issues, but has yet to flatly reject its investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have serious concerns about the ICC\u2019s attempts to exercise its jurisdiction over Israeli personnel,&#8221; State Department spokesman Ned Price said on Friday, when the court first announced its decision. &#8220;The United States has always taken the position that the court\u2019s jurisdiction should be reserved for countries that consent to it or that are referred by the U.N.
