It also prevents insurers from&nbsp;covering these procedures for children.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/04\/05\/arkansas-gov-asa-hutchinson-vetoes-bill-banning-transgender-drugs-surgeries-minors\/\">vetoed<\/a> the law last year but the Arkansas legislature overrode the veto. But before it could take effect, the ACLU filed a lawsuit to halt the legislation, claiming such \u201cgender affirming\u201d procedures for kids qualify as \u201cmedically necessary health care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The plaintiffs in Brandt et al. v. Rutledge et al. include four families of transgender minors as well as two doctors. (Frazer Harrison\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Others joining the suit include dozens of academics, transgender activists, and physicians.<\/p>\n<p>Elliot Page came out as a transgender man in late 2020, and has since become a vocal trans activist. &nbsp;In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/\">interview<\/a> with <em>Vanity Fair<\/em> magazine last year, the formerly female star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2021\/04\/29\/elliot-page-says-laws-concerning-transgender-kids-will-be-responsible-for-the-death-of-children\/\">spoke out against<\/a> the Arkansas law and others like it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese bills are going to be responsible for the death of children. It is that simple,\u201d Page said.<\/p>\n<p>Lilly Wachowski is one of the filmmaking siblings behind <em>The Matrix<\/em> movies.
