The Times claimed Hannah-Jones \u201cinadvertently\u201d posted the reporter\u2019s cell-phone number, even though she left the tweet up for 71 hours and responded to a Twitter user pointing out the number in a joking fashion, indicating she knew her tweet contained the number.<\/p>\n<p>The situation began last week when a Times reporter, Donald McNeil, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-york-times-reporter-resigns-amid-allegations-he-used-a-racial-slur-in-2019-ignore-context-and-intent\">resigned<\/a> from the newspaper after he used a racial slur during an educational trip with high school students in Peru. McNeil was asked by one of the students if a classmate should have been suspended for a video she made when she was 12 years old, in which she used a racial slur. McNeil said he asked the student if she had called someone else the slur or was rapping or quoting a book. In doing so, he used the slur himself.<\/p>\n<p>Times editors Dean Baquet and Joe Kahn wrote of McNeil\u2019s resignation, \u201cWe do not tolerate racist language regardless of intent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hannah-Jones had previously used the slur in May 2016 while defending black comedian Larry Wilmore\u2019s use of the word at the White House Correspondents Dinner, The Daily Wire\u2019s Tim Pearce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/nyt-executive-editor-says-paper-wont-tolerate-n-word-regardless-of-intent-1619-project-founder-said-it\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLarry Wilmore did not say, \u2018You did it, my n****r.\u2019 Come on, now,\u201d Hannah-Jones said at the time, using the full words without the asterisks.<\/p>\n<p>Washington Free Beacon reporter Aaron Sibarium reached out to Hannah-Jones regarding her use of the slur following the Times\u2019 claim that it would not be tolerated \u201cregardless of intent.\u201d Hannah-Jones tweeted a screenshot of Sibarium\u2019s email, which included his cell number to her more than 500,000 followers.<\/p>\n<p>A spokeswoman for the Times defended Hannah-Jones to the Free Beacon, telling the outlet the Pulitzer-Prize winning author \u201cinadvertently posted Aaron\u2019s number when she tweeted an email she received from him.\u201d The Times\u2019 senior vice president of communications, Eileen Murphy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/new-york-times-defends-star-journalist-who-doxxed-free-beacon-reporter-on-twitter\/\">told<\/a> National Review that \u201cThe inclusion of the phone number was inadvertent and when it was brought to&nbsp;Nikole\u2019s attention, she deleted it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sibarium <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/aaronsibarium\/status\/1359206397741826053\">posted<\/a> a screenshot of a tweet that contradicted the Times\u2019 defense of Hannah-Jones. The tweet remained up for 71 hours before Hannah-Jones deleted her entire Twitter history, including the tweets Sibarium originally asked about. During that time, another Twitter user, Dr. Uche Blackstock, pointed out Sibarium\u2019s cell number by writing, \u201cLol and he included his phone number and thought you would actually call him. [Shaking my head.]\u201d Hannah-Jones responded to Blackstock, saying, \u201cGirl,\u201d with a facepalm emoji.<\/p>\n<p>The Twitter interaction took place nearly three days before Hannah-Jones finally deleted the tweet.<\/p>\n<p>Sibarium <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/aaronsibarium\/status\/1358982551625469955\">said<\/a> being doxed was \u201cmore annoying than alarming,\u201d adding that he received some \u201cnasty voice messages but nothing serious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Free Beacon\u2019s editor in chief, Eliana Johnson,&nbsp;told National Review&nbsp;in an email that \u201cThe behavior and the Times\u2019s disingenuous response speak for themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
