Version: 4.0.47--><div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/GettyImages-143303013-640x335-1.png\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">German companies that side with Communist China over Lithuania are effectively destroying the European Union\u2019s Single Market in favour of a \u201cSino-centric trade system,\u201d a leading MP has told Breitbart News.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the ongoing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/07\/22\/exclusive-we-will-not-be-intimidated-by-china-says-lithuanian-mp\/\">diplomatic row<\/a> over Lithuania\u2019s decision to open a de-facto Taiwanese embassy in Vilnius, the Chinese Communist Party has not only placed a blockade on Lithuanian products but also products made throughout the European Union made with any Lithuanian components.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Firms in Germany, whose largest trading partner is China, have attempted to ramp up pressure on the Baltic state to back down in its fight with Beijing in order to regain their lost profits from the Chinese market.<\/p>\n<p>German car companies have been particularly impacted by the Lithuanian sanctions, with the&nbsp;German car-parts manufacturer Continental <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lrt.lt\/en\/news-in-english\/19\/1594168\/german-firms-pressure-lithuania-to-deescalate-china-tensions-media\">telling<\/a>&nbsp;Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida \u0160imonyt\u0117 last month that the financial hit of China\u2019s blockade has already resulted in hundreds of millions of euros lost.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter last month, the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce demanded that Lithuania come to a \u201cconstructive solution\u201d with the communist nation, <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.finance.yahoo.com\/news\/analysis-german-big-business-piles-060510079.html\">saying<\/a> per Reuters:&nbsp;\u201cThe basic business model of the companies is in question and some \u2026 will have no other choice than to shut down production in Lithuania\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Responding to the pressure campaign from German industry,&nbsp;Lithuanian MP&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/11\/26\/communism-is-a-plague-says-lithuanian-mp-as-china-threatens-war\/\">Dovil\u0117 \u0160akalien\u0117<\/a>&nbsp;told Breitbart London that if companies choose to establish their production lines based on \u201cBeijing\u2019s political will\u201d rather than on the principles of the free market, then \u201cwe are living in a Sino-centric trade system\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, let\u2019s not be naive \u2013 multinationals lobbying for China\u2019s interests within their Governments are effectively undermining abilities of collective defence and possibilities for deterrence of Beijing coercion in the future,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>On social media,&nbsp;\u0160akalien\u0117 noted the sordid Nazi-era history of some of the German companies who have sided with Beijing, including&nbsp;industrial manufacturing giant&nbsp;Siemens, whose CEO has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.handelsblatt.com\/unternehmen\/industrie\/zwangsarbeit-siemens-chef-warnt-baerbock-vor-konfrontativer-aussenpolitik-gegenueber-china\/27936968.html?ticket=ST-3281078-jVClqBiYpenGwzCwtSb7-ap3\">said<\/a> last month that the EU should not pressure China over forced labour because it may slow down the global green agenda.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In Nazi Germany, Siemens used <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/forcedlabor?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#forcedlabor<\/a>. &#8220;Siemens has taken a clear position on this matter \u2013 repeatedly, responsibly and clearly.&#8221; That they did. Their CEO in 2022 says EU ban on forced labor could slow down the green course. \u00af_(\u30c4)_\/\u00af <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/vonderleyen?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@vonderleyen<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TW_in_LT?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@TW_in_LT<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ipacglobal?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ipacglobal<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/7yow4uJyEO\">pic.twitter.com\/7yow4uJyEO<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dovil\u0117 \u0160akalien\u0117 (@DSakaliene) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DSakaliene\/status\/1484196355446919174?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 20, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Other Nazi-era firms that have been accused of profiting off the backs of forced labour in China, include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2019\/11\/28\/volkswagen-tied-to-concentration-camp-region-of-china\/\">Volkswagen<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/asia\/2020\/03\/02\/study-nike-apple-bmw-among-83-brands-using-chinese-muslim-slave-labor\/\">Hugo Boss<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/asia\/2020\/03\/02\/study-nike-apple-bmw-among-83-brands-using-chinese-muslim-slave-labor\/\">BMW<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>While the use of slave labour in the Xinjiang region of China has become highly publicised the communist regime has been accused of shipping Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/01\/13\/beyond-orwells-imaginings-chinese-communist-party-attacking-all-human-rights-claims-uks-conservative-party-human-rights-commission\/\">effective slaves<\/a> to factories throughout the Middle Kingdom. <\/p>\n<p>Once in the factories, Uyghurs are reportedly forced to attend&nbsp;\u201cMandarin Chinese language classes and political indoctrination classes\u201d and are constantly monitored by guards, who produce daily reports on the \u201cthoughts\u201d of the workers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The leading MP, who was personally sanctioned by the communist government over her efforts to recognise the genocide of the Uyghurs in the Xinjiang, went on to say that the row with Beijing \u201cis not about Lithuania anymore\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe undeclared secondary sanctions aimed at the exclusion of Lithuania-related goods from global supply chains is an attack against the EU\u2019s Single Market \u2013 as excluding one member\u2019s products or components means that the concept of the Single Market is dismantled,\u201d&nbsp;\u0160akalien\u0117 said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMoreover, the actions of Beijing are an attack against international trade rules \u2013 as disrupting global supply chains by excluding one WTO member state\u2019s production components violates the WTO standards,\u201d she claimed.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The Lithuanian MP said that through these efforts, Communist China is \u201cdestroying the international trading system that enabled\u201d it to become a world economic power.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Exclusive: Lithuania Will Stand With Taiwan, Won&#8217;t Let China Decide Fate Like &#8216;Stalin or Hitler&#8217;, Says MP <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rqshF5MxQW\">https:\/\/t.co\/rqshF5MxQW<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1479834220113674241?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 8, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On top of German companies siding with the Chinese over their EU and NATO ally of Lithuania, the recently installed \u201ctraffic light\u201d coalition government led by Social Democrat Olaf Scholz has attempted to seek warm relations with the authoritarian government of Xi Jinping.<\/p>\n<p>Under&nbsp;Scholz\u2019s predecessor, former Chancellor Anglea Merkel, Germany spearheaded a mass <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/01\/05\/setback-for-the-free-world-eu-deal-with-communist-china-draws-harsh-criticism\/\">EU-China investment pact<\/a> that would have seen an increase of&nbsp;\u20ac120 billion in trade between the bloc and Beijing. Crucially, the deal made no mention of China needing to adhere to human rights or abandon the use of forced labour.<\/p>\n<p>While the trade deal was ultimately shelved in May of last year following a series of tit-for-tat sanctions, Mr Sholz reportedly used his first call with the Chinese dictator to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/01\/03\/top-eurocrat-blames-rising-food-prices-on-china-for-hoarding-food-stocks\/\">pledge his support<\/a> for putting the deal back on the table \u201cas soon as possible\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>This week, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock held talks to mark the&nbsp;50th anniversary of relations between the CCP and the German government. Although Germany has yet to publish trade figures for last year, China became the country\u2019s&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/0de447eb-999d-452f-a1c9-d235cc5ea6d9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">top trading partner<\/a>&nbsp;in 2018 and has remained so until at least 2020.<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear whether the new German government will be able to force through the EU-China trade deal, however, with France taking an increasingly hard line on China.
