The Canadian Trucker Alliance&nbsp;<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/cantruck.ca\/arrivecan-alternatives-need-to-be-considered-to-avoid-potential-border-delays-cta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">estimates<\/a>&nbsp;at least 12,000 drivers will not be able to enter the United States due to the mandate.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Canada <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jjkeller.com\/learn\/news\/012022\/Canadas-vaccine-mandate-effective-January-15\">enforced<\/a> a similar vaccine requirement for travelers entering its borders on January 15.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Hitchcock, owner of MBH Trucking LLC and interim executive director of the Michigan Trucking Association, expects to lose two-fifths of his revenue due to the United States and Canada\u2019s vaccine mandates. Hitchcock\u2019s drivers travel back and forth from Michigan to Ontario, but only one-sixth of his employees are vaccinated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow do you force a mandate on a bunch of truck drivers who have been out there on the front line for 20 months and never asked for anything?\u201d Hitchcock&nbsp;<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/us-vaccine-mandate-freight-drivers-coming-canada-may-exacerbate-auto-s-rcna12649\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">asked<\/a>. \u201cThey were the ones that kept our economy moving and supplies (going), so you never ran out of food.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s vaccine mandate will likely hit the automobile manufacturing industry the hardest. Auto Care Association Bill Hanvey warned the vaccination requirement could further strain the supply chain.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to NBC News, Hanvey&nbsp;<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/us-vaccine-mandate-freight-drivers-coming-canada-may-exacerbate-auto-s-rcna12649\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Due to the current supply chain issues and chip shortages that the American automotive manufacturers are facing \u2026 we believe any additional strains placed on the supply chain have the potential to exacerbate this situation and could cause the demands on both the automotive manufacturers and the aftermarket to rise even further<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Doug Betts, president of J.D. Power\u2019s global automotive division, made a similar&nbsp;<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/us-vaccine-mandate-freight-drivers-coming-canada-may-exacerbate-auto-s-rcna12649\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">warning<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>By the time you map out the supply chain, it\u2019s just a spider web going everywhere. I would be surprised if there are any (U.S.) cars that don\u2019t have at least one Canadian-based part. Canada is a pretty important part of auto manufacturing. Any part that doesn\u2019t arrive or if there\u2019s something wrong with it, you can\u2019t build it. There\u2019s more points of failure.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Charles Sox, a supply chain expert and University of Cincinnati professor, mirrored Betts\u2019s point. \u201cAutomobiles are very complex machines, they have thousands of component parts.
