This journey is led by members of the trans and non-binary community. We are at the beginning of this process, which will continue over the next few years.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Midwives believe pregnancy and birth are normal, healthy parts of life. The midwife\u2019s role is to support a pregnant person\u2019s journey through each stage of pregnancy, birth, and the early days with their new baby. Midwives believe that you know what is best for you and your baby, and will work together with you to ensure your experience of pregnancy and birth is safe and positive.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In a portion titled, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsuh.nhs.uk\/maternity\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2021\/01\/Gender-Inclusive-Language-in-Perinatal-Services-BSUH.pdf\">Gender Inclusive Language in Perinatal Services: Mission Statement and Rationale<\/a>,\u201d the trust notes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>It is within our power as midwives, as obstetricians, and as an organisation to make continual improvements to our services, practices and policies towards the fulfilment of human rights. \u2026 This is known as \u2018progressive realisation\u2019 and is congruent with NHS guidance which advocates services taking additional steps in order to overcome, and reverse, the effects of previous exclusion or marginalisation on trans and non-binary people. The result is perinatal services that are available, accessible and acceptable to the trans and non-binary community, fulfilling our professional, statutory and ethical responsibility to address health inequalities in marginalised populations. \u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>For us, a gender-additive approach means using gender-neutral language alongside the language of womanhood, in order to ensure that everyone is represented and included. \u2026 It is important to note that the term \u201cwomen\u201d encompasses both cis and trans women. Professionals should be aware that co-parents could have any gender identity, and could also be cis, trans, non-binary, and\/or intersex. \u2026 Unless conversation is focused on gender identity with relation to cis, trans or non- binary status, it is not necessary to include the adjectives \u201ccis\u201d or \u201ctrans\u201d before the words \u201cwoman,\u201d \u201cman,\u201d or \u201cperson.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsuh.nhs.uk\/maternity\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2021\/01\/Poster-Gender-Inclusive-Perinatal-Care.pdf\">poster<\/a> titled \u201cGender Inclusive Perinatal Care,\u201d Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust asks, \u201cWhat can you do to support trans &amp; non-binary parents?\u201d The poster answers, \u201cAsk ALL service users about their pronouns &amp; offer pronoun stickers to trans &amp; non-binary people,\u201d \u201coffer your own pronouns when introducing yourself,\u201d \u201cget comfortable with \u2018They, them, theirs\u2019 pronouns,\u201d \u201cuse inclusive language when talking to, or about, groups of people,\u201d \u201cmake sure signs and leaflets are gender-inclusive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
