They were originally built during the 1960s to offer cheaper housing options for low-income residents of the area, which explains their compact, densely-packed appearance, the article reports. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2020\/02\/07\/fact-check-image-coronavirus-hospital-wuhan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Viral Image Claims To Show A Chinese Coronavirus Hospital In Wuhan)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A reverse image search revealed, however, the photo of the building posted on Facebook has been digitally altered. The image can be found on the photography website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yellowkorner.com\/en\/p\/the-monster-building-multiplied\/56286.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yellow Korner,<\/a> where a photographer named Tristan Zhou is listed as the creator. The piece\u2019s title on the website is \u201cThe monster building multiplied,\u201d and the \u201cAbout The Artwork\u201d section explains it includes \u201cpost-production effects\u201d to magnify the building\u2019s size.<\/p>\n<p>Zhou also shared the piece on his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/B6iiZ0qn1DJ\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instagram<\/a> page in December 2019, explaining further the techniques he used to edit the image. \u201cThis is a project I started in early 2019, \u2018The Monster Building\u2019 series,\u201d the post\u2019s caption reads, in part. \u201cMostly shot on a wide angle lens and then enhanced in post to create a sense of infinity. I\u2019ve always been a huge fan of the idea \u2018distopian\u2019, so I\u2019ve made my own version of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The photographer shared the original, unedited image on his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Bqfvpu4nc5g\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instagram<\/a> back on Nov. 22, 2018, with the building appearing to only have about 20 floors.
