I mean, certainly we\u2019ve seen a lot over the last decades, but it\u2019s so easy to otherize people, to make people other than, other than American, other than patriotic, other than human,\u201d Cooper said to a nodding Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), a frequent critic of Donald Trump. \u201cYou know, and we\u2019ve seen it in Bosnia, we\u2019ve seen it in Rwanda, where radio was telling people that you know, Hutus, were telling the radio listeners that Tutsi were cockroaches for you know, getting them ginned up for genocide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd you see it in in these videos where people who claim they are patriots are in the face of a police officer calling him you know, as we\u2019re seeing it right there and and you know, gouging out of the eye of one, you know, squeezing one in, you know, a suffocating one in a doorway,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>WATCH:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">CNN&#8217;s Cooper compares Trump &amp; his supporters on Jan. 6 to those that carried out genocides in Bosnia &amp; Rwanda: &#8220;[W]e&#8217;ve seen it in Bosnia, we&#8217;ve seen it in Rwanda where radios was telling people \u2013 you know, Hutus were telling the radio listeners that the Tutsi are cockroaches\u2026&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/2oELRGqKeE\">pic.twitter.com\/2oELRGqKeE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CurtisHouck\/status\/1359328430664388611?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 10, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Cooper previously associated the events of January 6 with the Rwandan genocide just a few days after the riot happened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, I remember seeing you in the lobby of a hotel in Egypt in the midst of the revolution. And it was a really scary day,\u201d Cooper said to New York Times columnist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-york-times-columnist-tom-friedman-on-china-at-least-they-dont-have-republicans-qanon\">Thomas Friedman<\/a>. \u201cI was, I was, I\u2019ve seen a lot and I was very scared that day. Um, you\u2019ve been to a lot of civil wars. You know, I was in Rwanda in the genocide briefly, I was in Bosnia, we\u2019ve, you know, we\u2019re in Iraq, Afghanistan, you\u2019ve been around the world, you\u2019ve seen a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hear people talking about civil war in America as if they know what they\u2019re talking about, as if they know what that looks like,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd unless you\u2019ve seen it up close, I mean, it is a horrible, horrible thing. I am so upset when I hear these people at rallies, Trump rallies talking about civil war as if it\u2019s some sort of a cleansing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>WATCH:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Anderson Cooper also said this back on Jan. 12: &#8220;I was in Rwanda in the genocide\u2026.I hear people talking about civil war in America\u2026.I am so upset when I hear these people at rallies \u2014 Trump rallies talking about Civil War as if it&#8217;s some sort of a cleansing.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/y9U9OH6cv6\">pic.twitter.com\/y9U9OH6cv6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CurtisHouck\/status\/1359329484915306497?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 10, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Cooper made a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cnns-cooper-compares-trump-to-dictator-whose-son-shot-opponents-trump-jr-trolls-him-with-photo\">similar comparison<\/a> late last year when discussing then-President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the mid-90s, I think it was like \u201996, I was in Kinshasa in the waning days of Mobutu, and Mobutu was a pretty awful dictator and when he finally fled the country and the rebels were moving to take the capital, his son drove around in a pick-up truck with a machine gun and settling scores with people he felt with people had not been supportive enough with Mobutu,\u201d Cooper said. \u201cThankfully, it hasn\u2019t come to that here, but I can\u2019t believe we\u2019re in a situation where a transfer of power is not \u2014 I can\u2019t believe we are in this situation here \u2014 it just seems so petty and I know it\u2019s about Georgia and I know it\u2019s about setting up grievance politics that will perhaps allow him to run in four years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One major development from the Rwandan genocide took place last year when European law enforcement officials tracked down and arrested F\u00e9licien Kabuga.<\/p>\n<p>Kabuga \u201cwas behind the radio station whose hate-filled invectives turned Rwandan against Rwandan, neighbor against neighbor, even spouse against spouse,\u201d The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/05\/16\/world\/europe\/france-rwanda-genocide-kabuga.html\">reported<\/a>. \u201c[Kabuga] was the man, it was said, who imported the hundreds of thousands of machetes that allowed countless ordinary people to act upon that hatred in one of the last genocides of the past century.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
