Col. Alexander Vindman, the Democrats\u2019 star witness, when he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/11\/19\/us\/politics\/vindman-statement-testimony.html\">testified<\/a> in the public impeachment hearings.<\/p>\n<p>Vindman was silent Wednesday about Biden throwing Ukraine to the wolves, other than to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AVindman\/status\/1483904666064900102\">tweet<\/a> that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ought to \u201cbe preparing his people for what\u2019s coming\u201d rather than \u201cpresenting false confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>He, too, appears to have given up any hope of deterring Russia, which had never seemed to be a problem for the president Vindman tried to overthrow \u2014 legally and constitutionally, of course, though he would not tell America who the \u201cwhistleblower\u201d was.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, Democrats could not come up with compelling evidence that Trump had committed \u201cTreason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors,\u201d despite the best efforts of House Intelligence Committee chair Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who held witness depositions in secret and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/12\/04\/devin-nunes-adam-schiff-violated-my-civil-liberties-phone-snooping-legal-options\/\">subpoenaed<\/a> the private telephone records of the president\u2019s lawyer, and members of the opposition. They argued that Trump could be impeached for maladministration, a low standard the Framers rejected.<\/p>\n<p>By that standard, President Biden deserves to be impeached \u2014 over his ongoing failure to support Ukraine, the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the crisis at the southern border, all of which are the result from dereliction of duty as commander-in-chief.<\/p>\n<p>And while I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?c4996240\/senator-sinema-announces-opposition-changing-filibuster-rules\">agree<\/a> wholeheartedly with Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) that we need to find common ground in American politics, her party first needs to understand that there will be consequences for overstepping the line.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, two wrongs&nbsp;<em>do<\/em> make a right, if they deter further wrongs.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Sinema accepted that tacitly in her speech last week defending the Senate filibuster, when she noted that Democrats had provoked Republicans to end the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees by breaking it first themselves for other appointments.<\/p>\n<p>The lesson she took from that experience was that Democrats should not break norms like that again. Unfortunately, the rest of her party needs more education on that point.<\/p>\n<p>So when Republicans take back the House in 2022, as seems likely \u2014 with Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/19\/the-big-lie-joe-biden-casts-doubt-on-legitimacy-of-midterm-elections\/\">spreading<\/a> his own \u201cBig Lie\u201d about the \u201cillegitimate\u201d election, ten months ahead of time \u2014 they need to begin an impeachment inquiry against Biden.<\/p>\n<p>It should ask whether the Trump impeachment was done to help Biden\u2019s election, and should subpoena Schiff and Hunter Biden, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Deter Putin with a credible threat of force, and deter Democrats by doing to them what they have done unto others.<\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
