The survey comes as Biden\u2019s approval rating continues to plummet, including a shocking 33% in a left-of-center mainstream poll last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs is customary in focus groups, our role as moderators was not to argue with or fact-check the speakers, and some participants expressed opinions not rooted in facts,\u201d the Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/01\/20\/opinion\/biden-independent-voters.html\">reported<\/a>. \u201cThe discussions are led by professional focus group leaders; with guidance from Times Opinion, [Frank] Luntz chose the participants and led this discussion. (Times Opinion paid him for the work, and he has done similar work over the years for political candidates and partisan groups.)\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Findings included:<\/p>\n<p>When the participants were asked to describe life in America today, they responded by saying, \u201cDivided,\u201d \u201cDismal,\u201d \u201cDisappointment,\u201d \u201cIndescribable,\u201d \u201cNew normal,\u201d \u201cBurned out,\u201d \u201cStressful,\u201d and \u201cLost.\u201dWhen asked if they thought that the country was at \u201cthe lowest point\u201d they\u2019ve ever seen, six out of 14 raised their hands.Twelve of the 14 independents raised their hands when asked if they thought \u201cthe level of crime is up in America today, versus a year ago.\u201dMany of the independents blamed local officials, like district attorneys, for the rise in crime.Six of the 14 raised their hands when they were asked if they were so concerned about things that they were \u201cliterally\u201d losing sleep at night. Their worries ranged from the pandemic to economic security, and general frustration over the state of politics.The majority of the independents had a negative view, eight of 14, of Dr. Anthony Fauci, while only 5 had positive views.When asked to describe Biden, the independents said, \u201cComplete disaster,\u201d \u201cPuppet,\u201d \u201cDetached,\u201d \u201cClueless,\u201d \u201cPathetic,\u201d \u201cIncoherent,\u201d \u201cOut of touch,\u201d \u201cFunctional adult,\u201d \u201cJust calmness.\u201dWhen asked for further thoughts, one independent said Biden was too much of a \u201cnice guy,\u201d while another said she had \u201cquestions about his mental health.\u201dWhen asked if anyone thought that Biden had \u201cexceeded\u201d their \u201cexpectations,\u201d no one raised their hands.When asked about whether Biden could do better in his second year, one person said, \u201cYou can\u2019t really do much worse.\u201dEight of the 14 said they wanted Republicans in control of Congress while only five said that they wanted Democrats in charge. One person said they wanted to send a message with their vote that Democrats were \u201cnuts at the moment,\u201d while another said that the far-Left had \u201ctaken over\u201d the party.Eleven of the 14 independents said that they did not think Biden could get the pandemic under control, while only two said they thought he could.When asked how many were \u201cconfident that President Biden and the Democrats have a plan to improve the economy, to deal with inflation,\u201d no one raised their hands.When asked what they would tell Biden, they said, \u201cNo vaccine mandates,\u201d \u201cGet rid of your staff,\u201d \u201cNo lockdowns, no more lockdowns,\u201d \u201cFix the crime rate,\u201d \u201cTake action and be honest and go for it,\u201d \u201cStart regulating the ports,\u201d \u201cGet the border under control and take it much more seriously than you are currently,\u201d \u201cPlease be moderate, like you used to be, and don\u2019t tell me that I have to wear a mask anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
