Jon Ossoff (D-GA) and Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) is proposing legislation to tighten insider trading regulations for members of Congress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYear after year, politicians somehow manage to outperform the market, buying and selling millions in stocks of companies they\u2019re supposed to be regulating,\u201d Hawley said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/abigailmarone\/status\/1481422244349939716\">statement<\/a>. \u201cWall Street and Big Tech work hand-in-hand with elected officials to enrich each other at the expense of the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/josh-hawley-stock-ban-bill-c1f17548-286c-4244-8798-ce465efffc1f.html\">Axios<\/a>, negotiations between Ossoff and Hawley\u2019s offices \u201cfizzled out.\u201d While Ossoff\u2019s bill would ban dependent children from investing, Hawley\u2019s bill would not; Hawley\u2019s bill would charge the Government Accountability Office with providing oversight, which Ossoff\u2019s bill leaves to congressional ethics committees.<\/p>\n<p>As the debate over lawmakers\u2019 stock trades has unfolded, several prominent voices have weighed in \u2014 including that of podcast host Joe Rogan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey make their money when they get out,\u201d Rogan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/josh-hawley-announces-bill-banning-insider-trading-in-congress\">said<\/a> of politicians after they leave office. \u201cWhat it is is [it\u2019s] like an investment, if you get out you will have money for speaking engagements with all the companies that you helped, all the companies that you like, \u2018Hey, I like you. I like you. Let\u2019s hang out, let\u2019s party.\u2019 They\u2019re like, \u2018Hey, Mike.
