Patty Kuderer (D), Manka Dhinga (D), Marko Liias (D), Joe Ngyugen (D), Jamie Pedersen (D), Claire Wilson (D), and others.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The bill bans 51 specific guns and also contains an additional ban for any \u201csemiautomatic, centerfire, or rimfire rifle that has an<br \/>overall length of less than 30 inches.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>If the \u201csemiautomatic, centerfire, or rimfire rifle\u201d is longer than 30 inches, it would still be banned if were the result of \u201ca&nbsp;conversion kit, part, or combination of parts, from which&nbsp;an assault weapon can be assembled if those parts are in the&nbsp;possession or under the control of the same person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bill also bans \u201ccopycat\u201d weapons, which it defines as \u201ca semiautomatic, centerfire firearm&nbsp;that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and has one or more of the following\u201d:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<blockquote>\n<p>A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, unless the firearm is a pistol as defined in this section;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Thumbhole stock.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Folding or telescoping stock.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Forward pistol, vertical, angled, or other grip designed for use by the nonfiring hand to improve control during a high rate of fire.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Flash suppressor, flash guard, flash eliminator, flash hider,&nbsp;sound suppressor, silencer, or any item designed to reduce the visual or audio signature of the firearm.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Muzzle brake, recoil compensator, or any item designed to be affixed to the barrel to reduce recoil or muzzle rise.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Threaded barrel designed to attach a flash suppressor, sound suppressor, muzzle break, or similar item; or<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Grenade launcher or flare launcher.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>SB 5217 is only one of six gun controls currently being pushed by Washington state Democrats.<\/p>\n<p><em>AWR&nbsp;<\/em><em>Hawkins is an award-winning Second Amendment columnist for Breitbart News<\/em><em>&nbsp;and the writer\/curator of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/downrange\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Down Range with AWR Hawkins<\/a>,&nbsp;<\/em><em>a weekly newsletter focused o<\/em><em>n al<\/em><em>l things Second Amendment, also for Breitbart News.
