Regular road users could see bills of another \u00a3730 a year under the proposed scheme.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The Mayor\u2019s Office has proposed four potential options to expand his net-zero green agenda in London \u2013 all of which will hit most London drivers in the pocket.<\/p>\n<p>Khan has also announced as a third option that he is debating whether to impose an estimated \u00a33.50 daily charge on drivers from outside of the capital for travelling in Greater London. The socialist mayor has said that electric cars will be most likely exempt from the charge which will be more than a bus fare, but this is not guaranteed, the&nbsp;<em>Evening Standard<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/video\/news\/sadiq-khan-considers-new-daily-clean-air-charge-for-petrol-and-diesel-cars-in-london-vfe3f278a?utm_medium=Social&amp;utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1642510388-1\">reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Khan has not officially announced released the exact numbers for the new charges but has retweeted estimated numbers from media outlets that appear to be endorsements of the above figures.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The final potential option to threaten non-electric car drivers in London is the expansion of the&nbsp;\u2018Ultra Low Emission Zone\u2019 or ULEZ onto \u201cthe whole of Greater London\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The ULEZ charge is a&nbsp;\u00a312.50 daily green tax on all \u201ccars, motorcycles, vans and specialist vehicles\u201d up to 3.5 tonnes that enter the zone. This is on top of the existing daily congestion charge which <a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/modes\/driving\/congestion-charge\">is now<\/a> \u00a315 every day if you enter central London in a vehicle between 7 am and 10 pm \u2013 bar the period between Christmas and New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n<p>The new threat to drivers comes as Khan announces London needs to cut 27% of car journeys in London by 2030 to meet his \u201cnet-zero\u201d goals for the capital, with it being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.london.gov.uk\/sites\/default\/files\/london_net_zero_2030_-_an_updated_pathway_-_gla_response_1.pdf\">claimed<\/a> by the Mayor\u2019s office that 25% of London\u2019s \u201ccarbon emissions now come from road transport\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">NET STUPID NOT NET ZERO: Taxpayers to foot \u00a3800k bill to make Nicola Sturgeon\u2019s official residence eco-friendly. Alongside the ULEZ fee, Khan has implemented the \u2018London Streetspace\u2019 scheme which saw the closure or narrowing of some roads in London, replacing them with cycle lanes, which was implemented during the pandemic in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Streetspace\u2019 scheme was been branded \u201cseriously flawed\u201d by High Court Justice Beverly Lang in January 2021.
