Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) when he made the bizarre suggestion. \u201cIf you can\u2019t get rid of the filibuster\u2026 then what if we just get rid of the Senate? And I\u2019m 100 percent serious here. It is the most anti-democratic institution next to the judiciary,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cNo one will drop a single tear, \u201d he added. \u201cI don\u2019t understand what possible positive purpose the United States Senate provides right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A visibly flustered Sen. Warren attempted a response. \u201cI hear you,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019re supposed to be the deliberative body\u2026 but so long as we\u2019re tangled in the filibuster then we don\u2019t get to do what the founders envisioned that we would.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Watch below:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n[embedded content]\n<p>Sen. Warren conveniently side-stepped the fact that Democrats&nbsp;used the filibuster more than 300 times in 2020 when Republicans used it once. As Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/14\/democrats-use-dreaded-filibuster-to-block-ted-cruz-bill-sanctioning-russias-pipeline\/\">reported<\/a>,&nbsp;Democrats recently used the Senate filibuster to block a bill by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) &nbsp;that would have sanctioned companies associated with Russia\u2019s Nord Stream 2 pipeline.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have been trying to eliminate the Senate filibuster in an effort to ram through their \u201cvoting rights\u201d legislation to federalize elections and roll back integrity measures like voter identification requirements. But their efforts failed after Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and&nbsp;Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) said they won\u2019t back the elimination of the filibuster.<\/p>\n<p>Colbert referred to Sinema as \u201cMrs. Hamburglar\u201d on Monday\u2019s show.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This isn&#8217;t comedy anymore.
