Businesses that do not comply with this policy will be subject to fines,\u201d the city\u2019s website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicago.gov\/city\/en\/sites\/covid19-vaccine\/home\/chi-vaccine-requirement.html\">warns<\/a>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;The fines vary but can be as much as $10,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>According to the AP, Chicago officials have handed out 32 citations to 16 businesses thus far.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>Cited businesses&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/dining\/ct-food-vaccine-mandate-violations-chicago-20220113-uabifwgtonaejaokcaebwf65kq-story.html\">include<\/a> several restaurants, a child\u2019s play place, and a handful of fitness centers, according to the <em>Chicago Tribune<\/em>.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">Other blue areas across the country are also&nbsp;requiring&nbsp;businesses to&nbsp;discriminate against&nbsp;unvaccinated individuals. New York City was one of the first places in the nation to do so, implementing the Key to NYC Pass under former Mayor Bill de Blasio (D).&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u201cAnd if you\u2019re vaccinated, all of that\u2019s going to open up to you. You\u2019ll have the key, you can open the door. If you\u2019re unvaccinated, unfortunately, you will not be able to participate in many things,\u201d de Blasio&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/08\/17\/nyc-impose-up-2000-fines-businesses-serving-unvaccinated\/\">said<\/a>&nbsp;at&nbsp;the time,&nbsp;expressing his sincere belief that it is time for people to \u201csee vaccination as literally necessary to living a good and full and healthy life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">The Supreme Court took action against one of President Biden\u2019s vaccine mandates last week, rejecting the&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rule, which would have affected roughly 84 million workers. The Court did, however, uphold the&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">Centers for Medicare &amp; Medicaid Services (CMS) vaccine mandate on healthcare workers, although it made clear that there are exceptions for&nbsp;religious or medical reasons.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The city of Chicago is citing businesses for failing to check the vaccination status of patrons and has issued over two dozen citations in the last three weeks.
