Jordan Cashmyer was 26 years old at the time of her passing.<\/p>\n<p>Cashmyer\u2019s stepmother Jessica shared the news on her husband Dennis\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=10220786945879606&amp;id=1116723331\">Facebook<\/a> page. She posted a black and white photo of the young mom alongside the tragic update.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast night I received a call no parent ever wants. My oldest beloved daughter, Jordan has passed away, she was only 26 years old. Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child, EVER,\u201d the post said.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease keep my family in your thoughts prayers as we navigate through this terrible tragedy. Please understand and respect our privacy at this time. We are surrounded by the love and support of our children, grand daughter Lyla and family members. \ud83d\udc94Jessica Cashmyer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There were no updates given on Cashmyer\u2019s cause of death.<\/p>\n<p>Cashmyer was featured on \u201c16 and Pregnant\u201d in 2014 with daughter Genevieve \u201cEvie\u201d Shae Taylor and the little girl\u2019s father, Derek Taylor. Like so many other show participants, Cashmyer experienced much hardship during her time on the MTV series, including unemployment, homelessness, and estrangement from her family. Apparently, they were not fond of Evie\u2019s father and didn\u2019t want Cashmyer to be in a relationship with him.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2022\/01\/jordan-cashmyer-dead-16-and-pregnant-star-was-26-obituary-1234913567\/\">Deadline<\/a>, Cashmyer and Taylor broke up after the show\u2019s filming ended. Cashmyer\u2019s father then died, and she wound up signing over temporary custody rights to Taylor\u2019s mother in 2015. Cashmyer was later arrested for drug possession in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Deadline reported that the young mom was attempting to change her ways. She had recently celebrated one year of sobriety in 2021 and was working at a strip club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an incredibly sad day. Jordan was a sweet and caring person,\u201d Cashmyer\u2019s rep told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1316563\/16-pregnant-star-jordan-cashmyer-dead-at-26\">E! News<\/a>. \u201cLast we spoke she was doing well and seemed to be in a good place mentally and physically. I wish people had the opportunity to know her beyond her struggles. I was always rooting for her and am grateful I had the chance to know and work with her all these years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c16 and Pregnant\u201d was only on MTV for six seasons beginning in 2009, but the show is iconic and many of the stars are still popular with fans today. The series also inspired multiple spinoffs including \u201cTeen Mom,\u201d \u201cTeen Mom 2,\u201d \u201cTeen Mom: Young &amp; Pregnant,\u201d \u201cTeen Mom 3,\u201d and \u201c16 and Recovering.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, Cashmyer is not the first \u201c16 and Pregnant\u201d star to die too young. Fellow reality show alum Valerie Fairmain died of an apparent drug overdose in 2016 at the age of 23.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, Fairmain\u2019s mother Janice talked about how Valerie\u2019s then 8-year-old daughter, Neveah, kept her late mother\u2019s memory alive. \u201cNevaeh is very well,\u201d Janice <a href=\"https:\/\/radaronline.com\/photos\/valerie-fairman-death-daughter-update-ashes-16-and-pregnant-teen-mom\/\">told<\/a> Radar Online. \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s been hard for her. I don\u2019t know if it will be in the coming years. She\u2019s doing well in school. I took her to a grief counselor, which she didn\u2019t need.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Janice went on to say they talked about Valerie \u201call the time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Nevaeh] has a necklace with some of her ashes,\u201d she explained. \u201cAshes are in her play room too.
