The arrest took place just hours after the confirmation of Malik Faisal Akram, a Lancashire resident, as the man who took four people hostage at the Congregation Beth Israel synagogue on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Greater Manchester Police officials tweeted notice of the arrest of two teenagers in South Manchester, U.K. Officials state the arrests are \u201cpart of the ongoing investigation into the attack that took place at a Synagogue in Texas on 15 January 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/UPDATE?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#UPDATE<\/a> | Counter Terrorism Policing North West update following the events in Texas: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Q3o08bc8Js\">pic.twitter.com\/Q3o08bc8Js<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Greater Manchester Police (@gmpolice) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gmpolice\/status\/1482856658187477002?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 16, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Officials said the teenagers remain in custody for questioning. They did not state the charges related to the arrests.<\/p>\n<p>The U.K. news outlet, Independent, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/uk\/crime\/teenagers-arrested-manchester-texas-synagogue-b1994292.html\">reported<\/a> the arrest, noting that the arrest took place under an investigation by the Counter Terror Policing Nort West unit.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The ages and genders of the arrested teenagers have not been released, the Independent reported. The arrests came within hours of the FBI announcing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/uk\/crime\/teenagers-arrested-manchester-texas-synagogue-b1994292.html\">identity of the hostage-taker<\/a>, 44-year-old Malik Faisal Akram. The suspect died Saturday night in Texas as the FBI\u2019s Hostage Rescue Team <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/border\/2022\/01\/16\/watch-hostages-flee-from-armed-gunman-as-standoff-comes-to-an-end\/\">made entry to the synagogue<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Om a written statement on Sunday, the FBI stated that there was \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/01\/16\/us\/hostage-texas-synagogue.html\">no indication that other individuals are involved<\/a>\u201d in the hostage-taking incident.<\/p>\n<p>Akram took four people hostage on Saturday morning at the Congregation Beth Israel synagogue, Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/border\/2022\/01\/15\/armed-man-takes-hostages-in-texas-synagogue\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The BBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-us-canada-60014006\">reports<\/a> that Akram was originally from the Blackburn area of Lancashire.
